I've been looking for office spaces the past few weeks and it's been very difficult to find a decent 500 - 1000 SF suite that isn't in some creepy old building or office park. It's really hard for me to understand because it seems like there are empty buildings and "For Lease" signs everywhere where I live, but when I call the agent they either tell me it's not available, it's in shell condition and requires a personal guarantee, 6 months buildout, and a 7 year term agreement, or it has some crazy layout that would be way to expensive to tear down and rebuild for a new business. I guess they expect to do business mostly with the large health systems or people who already have established cash flows, and they don't really care about a solo practice making < $1M in revenues... It makes sense, and I'll keep looking... just discouraged by the lack of nice, clean, not-outdated office spaces available for small businesses at the moment):

Intelligence is the ability to solve problems in your mind. Making money is a problem pretty much everybody is trying to solve, and it’s not that hard for intelligent people. What is hard is finding out how to do it in a virtuous way. It seems most ways of making a lot of money (at least with the current systems/incentive structures) involve some sort of moral compromise

If there’s one thing I learned from my road trip, it’s that politics is top of mind for almost everyone everywhere, and people are as divided as ever. It just depends which state you’re in whether you hear the complaints of the red team or the blue team (both are quite unhappy).
