Another feed of beet tops incoming, this one from bed number two. Given how few blazing sunny days are expected in the last month before Labor Day, I’m not expecting huge tubers from this bed. Might as well get these greens while they are tender and taste great. #gardenstr

It’s so cool how easy radishes are to grow. I harvested and cleaned up this bed that was full of beautiful beets. Turned the soil, planted radish seeds. Four days to germinate and pop through the soil. #gardenstr

Our neighbourhood has been overrun by crows. Every morning at 4am for the past six weeks, there have been four who were born in the Maple 20 feet from our bedroom window, plus the parents, making a giant ruckus. Now that nesting season is over and the fledglings are able to escape, I have managed to get them to move. Only one casualty, still hanging on a branch. The rest got the hint. At least it gave me an excuse to acquire a new toy that I can legally discharge in town, with the pellets falling harmlessly in an empty lake if I miss. But with groups like this with open sights at 25 yds, I won’t be missing. I empathize with all living things. Until they mess with my family’s sleep. I tried a laser first but they wouldn’t stay gone.

BC is on fire. Picture from the northwest of Faulder and Summerland, both now evacuated. The fire made it some 20km all the way to the distant shore in the pic, after this shot was taken. My sister and brother in law are living in their sprinter van at friends’ until the evacuation is over.

My new paradigm for risk management in Bitcoin is to imagine the most fucked up thing that could possibly happen to the protocol and the community and project them out to the dead centre of the next bear.
