"We're interoperable, so you can be sovereign.
Digitally sovereign communications require open standards and interoperability: the freedom to pick and mix backend components, and the ability for separate deployments to federate and communicate on your terms.
That's why we build on Matrix - the decentralised open standard no single vendor can own, control or shut down."

We’re interoperable, so you can be sovereign
Interoperability is the foundation of digital sovereignty; it’s the key ingredient to ensure that end-users stay in control, rather than the vendor.

That was from ToroidalCore on ActivityPub suggesting a way to avoid creating a syphon when the pump is off. (Which wasn't an issue in my xase because I had a valve downstream of the pump.
But this could eliminate the need for a valve at all. It would mean adding a timer to the pump since there won't be one on the valve, but that's simple. This would mean we don't have to remember to come back and turn off the pump, and it will never be attempting to pump water into a closed valve.
Fortunately for me, I didn't buy any extra gear. The valves that are now hopefully being cut are something we already had lying around. In fact, I think they came from Freecycle, so we truly didn't spend any extra money on them.
This is thr kind of energy I want to see on Nostr. Fixing real world problems, and making systems simpler instead of more complex. The extra thinking up front can make all the difference in making the daily operation easier. And this means the automation that'll come later will also be easier.

1 lb butter, softened
1 lb cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup powdered swerve
4 tsp vanilla bean paste or extract
Wisk them together with the stand mixer, starting slow and working up to max speed for 1 minute. Plop onto a cookie sheet in 1 Tbsp chunks, and freeze for an hour. They're done. Box 'em and put them in the fridge or freezer.
The world is beautiful.
