Interesting take on the whole AI cloned adobe thing : Now lets be honest, it didn't clone adobe. It made a UI thats very similar but under the hood obviously its a completely different thing and won't work as well. But the fact that many things including for example Minecraft are so easily cloneable, in an open source way does mean the future is hobbyists contributing LLM PR's to software and the software growing on its own merrits, rather than large corporations developing that software with subscription models. I actually said it today to someone, the impact of Ai on the job market will be immense but the value society gets in return will likely be far greater. Since were going to have an abundance of games, software and other stuff now its so easy to build it. And Nostr itself benefits a lot from it to, since previously most people willing to spent a ton of time doing free software were highly ideologically motivated and wanted to gatekeep those platforms. But now that its democratized you see places like Nostr thriving from contributions by people who can't spend 500 hours building something cool, but now can build that same cool thing in a weekend or two with AI.
#asknostr What is a good client for browsing nostr through a single relay? Ideally with my own nostr profile but without overwriting any of my actual relays. I want to test my own experimental relay without constantly fetching events from other ones. For regular use the behavior of normal nostr clients is great, but for this use case its really annoying.
If you were previously using my nostella relay and still have one running update it as soon as possible. The old version the AI made some design choices I never asked for that would cause immense strain on both the network and your own SSD. This release took me a bit to get right, and do keep a close eye on it in case I didn't catch everything. But it should now perform great. Instead of a 3 hops limit like 0.2 it has anti looping to ensure things spread far and wide, but to prevent a mesh of nostella relay's ddosing popular nostr relays it now no longer queries a nostr relay another mesh peer already queried for that request. Today I felt like doing a vibe coding experiment, can AI code a relay from the ground up? The answer seems to be yes. But its not a random experiment, I had a specific idea in mind. Anyone remember Limewire? What if I told you that Limewire's Gnutella network still exists in 2026. You can still connect to it. It survived all the pressure to shut it down, every working peer knows other working peers and you only need to find one of them. Problem is, Limewire was super easy to spoof. Malware would just put up fake peers announcing anything as a valid file which was of course a copy of itself. You could have searched for the word Nostr back in 2025 and have found nostr.mp3.exe just fine. Nostr already solved this problem with the way things are signed here. So if Limewire is so resillient , and Nostr solves the forging. Why not combine both platforms strengths? Meet today's experiment Nostella. It discovers and shares peers like Limewire, infact this thing will automatically connect to Nostr peers and fetch events from other peers including non nostella nodes and then caches them on its own node. You can deploy an empty nostella instance and use it as a relay immediately since it will have a ton of stuff populated very quickly. I also wanted this to be something that is crazy easy to setup so that even a novice user can just run their own private home relay that peers with the others. So for anyone who just wants a quick relay, this thing is as simple as running it and your ready to be a leaf peer. If you want to make a proper ultrapeer ready relay you do need to give this a public address (such as a subdomain) and its probably good to give it a proper SSL certificate. If you host that kind of public relay with this, chances are the network promotes you to be an ultrapeer and then you help the others onboard and you relay messages to more public nostr relays. The whole thing figures out on its own which relays are good to post to and pull from I have very few bootstrap relays bundled, the rest it will find own its own. If this works in practise has yet to be seen, but if this sounds like your kinda relay you can grab it from
I feel like somewhere we missed a turn and ended up in the wrong timeline :
If you care about my gameserver or just games in general, this is an important video to watch :
If you like a community that likes decentralized tech (They have their own fediverse that does not block Mostr and are now exploring Armada) and is by Retro Gamers for Retro Gamers this one can be fun to join. View quoted note →
