🇸🇩 #Sudan - 🇦🇪 #UAE / 🇨🇴 #Colombia: A new Human Rights Watch report alleges that the United Arab Emirates has been covertly deploying hundreds of Colombian mercenaries to Sudan to support the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during the country’s ongoing civil war, including during the siege and assault on El Fasher in Darfur.
According to the report, Colombian contractors recruited through private security firms linked to Abu Dhabi were transported through UAE military facilities and later deployed alongside RSF fighters in Darfur. Witnesses in El Fasher described foreign Spanish-speaking fighters equipped with sniper rifles and modern gear present during mass killings and abuses carried out by the RSF. Human Rights Watch says the evidence suggests the contractors were involved in combat operations, training RSF recruits (including alleged child soldiers) and supporting military operations despite widespread accusations of war crimes and ethnic cleansing against the RSF.
