I really loathe the idea of “{example tech} is inevitable, we need to prepare for it”. No tech is inevitable. There are so many possible ways things go wrong and a given tech just turns out to be a dead end. The only thing that is truly inevitable is people using the word inevitable to fear monger.
Someone at Apple decided that the Finder app needs to be changed where I can’t see the filesystem tree on the left hand side anymore. I literally can’t figure out how to go to a different location. GEE THANKS APPLE, GREAT UX 😫
One thing that I am growing increasingly concerned about - there are about a dozen FinTech companies who are all deploying the exact same playbook, including adding gambling. Brian Armstrong recently said "We need to be the most trusted place to manage your entire financial life", and then added stock trading. Robinhood recently added gambling. They are all literally converging on the same business model. Maybe total financial control doesn't come from one central entity like a CBDC, but by giving people the illusion of choice across 12 different companies, but who all act exactly the same way.

I have so much admiration and appreciation for blue collar workers. Crazy to me how much boomer parents discouraged doing that kind of work.
Why do long power outages only happen when I have time sensitive stuff to do? 😫
Just had a two hour conversation with a coworker about how dystopian working in tech is becoming. He’s extremely pessimistic. Spent a lot of time talking to him about how fiat degrades everything and how bitcoin and nostr help. Was a lot of fun 😅
“If we don’t build it, someone else will” is not an excuse for building dystopian tech.
