This was a good episode, in my opinion. On @Fountain you can find comments decrying the doom & gloom and black-pillism of it all, but as this analysis of empires throughout history shows, the U.S. empire is about to run it's course, since empires historically generally last about 250 years. That means the U.S. is likely in the decadence and probably even decline phases of empire now, which is why things suck and are likely to get worse... Doug Casey and Matt Smith discussed a brief writing from 1976 called 'The Fate of Empires and Search for Survival' by Sir John Glubb. It was a good read, and as one who studied political science and history in college, I'm surprised I hadn't heard or read about this guy and these ideas before. Here's a link to the document, but the podcast also gives a good discussion of its main points. https://people.uncw.edu/kozloffm/glubb.pdf https://fountain.fm/episode/61TPb5xRK0PIG9zSEh4D
> If the power of government rests on the widespread acceptance of false indeed absurd and foolish ideas, then the only genuine protection is the systematic attack of these ideas and the propagation and proliferation of true ones. –Hans-Hermann Hoppe *Democracy – The God That Failed*
> "In ancient times a great plague occurred in Egypt, and many ascribed the cause of it to the gods, who were offended with them. For since the multitudes of strangers of different nationalities, who lived there, made use of their foreign rites in religious ceremonies and sacrifices, the ancient manner of worshipping the gods, practised by the ancestors of the Egyptians, had been quite lost and forgotten. Therefore the native inhabitants concluded that, unless all the foreigners were driven out, they would never be free from their miseries. All the foreigners were forthwith expelled, and the most valiant and noble among them, under some notable leaders, were brought to Greece and other places, as some relate; the most famous of their leaders were Danaus and Cadmus. But the majority of the people descended into a country not far from Egypt, which is now called Judaea and at that time was altogether uninhabited. > >"The leader of this colony was one Moses, a very wise and valiant man..." –Diodorus Siculus, *Bibliotheca historica* 40.3.8., 4th c. B.C. This is the earliest Greek reference to the biblical Exodus from Egypt, before the Septuagint (the translation of the Hebrew Bible into Greek) was published.
> There are going to be times, potentially, when one side tries to stack the deck and lock in a [long pause] permanent grip on power—either by actively suppressing votes, or politicizing the armed forces, or using the judiciary and the criminal justice system to go after opponents. –Barack Obama As I've said before, the Devilcrats are always projecting. They point one finger at the 'Publicans, and three fingers point back at them. 👉🏽
