The Euro 💶 is not unbacked. It's backed by debt. They don't print money out of nothing; they issue debt and they pay interest on the debt. That limits how much debt they can accumulate and suppresses the tendency to hyperinflation. Every time they try to overinflate the monetary supply to make their crushing debt burdens lighter, the bond vigilantes take them down by demanding higher rates. (Ask Liz Truss about that.) Germany has taken on massive debts, without being correspondingly punished, as its debt-load is still relatively low.
