I can't stay as righteously angry about the NVK thing as my guys are. I think they're right to stay angry, tho, and I am glad no one is depending on me for that because my instinct is to want to encourage everyone to talk about their feelings and post 🫂 hug emojis and be frens again, as the dissonance is upsetting to me. But, sometimes, negative action demands a reaction if you don't want civilization to collapse. And that was all a pretty big negative action.
Guys are good to keep around. They are different. I appreciate them.

I've been thinking about self-hosting (more) AI models, but I am increasingly of the opinion that the opposite of the _You own nothing and you'll be happy._ mantra is not _You will own everything and you'll be happy._
Owning things carries a cost, so everyone has to be selective about what he chooses to own. Everyone who owns one thing is also choosing to not-own something else.
In regards to AI, I see more and more people getting so bogged down in purchasing and maintaining all of their models and infra, that they have effectively ceased to use them for productive purposes. They own the models primarily for the sake of owning them, and for talking about them with their friends. Rather than for the sake of using them to accomplish some particular task.
**Stamp collecting, but make it AI.**
Meanwhile, everything they own is rapidly becoming obsolete or oversized for the task, as the models become more efficient and effective.
