When you see a photo of Jared Kushner and you are torn between admiring how handsome he is and being creeped out by that cold expression. I always think he would be perfectly cast as an SS officer.

It's funny how fast I mentally adjusted to the end of asset price inflation. Bitcoin, gold, real estate, shares, savings account... 10% p.a. is pretty good, on average.

Major overhaul of the blog. Sped everything way up and fixed some minor bugs and inefficiencies. Also added some new articles, such as:

Just calling it Open was not enough — so we built it

A year ago I wrote Just calling it Open is not enough, an essay about why public education infrastructure keeps reproducing the lock-in mechanisms ...

I'm so glad that I finally escaped the software industry. It had become such an unhealthy environment. Customers don't care about quality. They only care about price. The price must be $0. Nobody understands why something so ephemeral and reproducible should carry any cost. You can't even see software. And now they're all vibe coding their own Bitcoin wallets and automation systems and pacemakers and military drones.

Is it paranoid for me to move most of my "spending" sats from my Phoenix Lightning wallet to my Electrum on-chain wallet? It's not just that I worry that Lightning is gonna get hacked next, but that I worry that the swaps will get taken offline in a panic, and I'll end up stuck in Lightning. This doesn't really seem rational, as I'd probably have to move them back onto Lightning to spend them, but oh well. In other news, added a silent payment wallet to my payment targets, which doesn't help much because hardly any Bitcoin wallets support silent payments. 🤣 I'm tired, boss.

This might be a false alarm, but... Now, go ahead. Ask me again why I removed zaps from my clients. View quoted note →

It's still very buggy and incomplete, but you may peak.

Alexandria

Library of Alexandria

Alexandria is a digital library, utilizing Nostr events for curated publications and wiki pages.

About messaging on Nostr: I have implemented kinds 24, 4, 14, and #cordn and I only have any interaction within the last 15 days on Cordn. And that was very sparse. My Telegram, Slack, and Signal are always busy with Nostr talk.

The Nostr market is completely saturated with kind 1 clients. 1. There is no room for additional clients in this tiny market. People are tired of kind 1 clients. Almost as tired as they are of the DM circus. 2. Everyone already has one and people are loathe to switch to a different one. 3. There's hardly any high-signal content in the kind 1 feed, so it's basically a forum for people to meet up and chat and forums don't need any fancy functionality. 4. Groups and communities haven't really taken off because Nostr is so small that it's already a community. 5. The main differential is if your client lets you see kind 1 and kind 1111 events, or only kind 1. People who can only see kind 1 think everything is much quieter than it is, as they can't see most of the responses, but they don't know that. 6. Kind 1 remains important, but is quickly losing ground.

Anything too easy to produce or perform will have no value because that market will become flooded with supply and drive down prices. But this is a post about vibe-coding.

This software development project was brought to you by an extensive paid vacation and the unemployment office. 🤭

I got a logistics management job! Sooo happy, fr. Managed to finally escape the coding mines and get back to real industry, doing what I am certified to do.

Yay, my Phoenix wallet got a Lightning tip! That is my favorite Lightning wallet, even though it doesn't do zaps. ☺️ Thank you! 🫶
