It's crazy that Nvidia is now so big that the stock price falling would crash the entire world economy. image #economics

Sometimes I wonder why it was Protestantism that brought on the global scourge of witch trials, but I have been on Nostr for three years and some male Prot calls me a witch or demon spawn or something on a nearly monthly basis. It's the most bizarre habit, but it's definitely a thing. image

Some models that I have really grown to appreciate are my self-hosted grammar check and translation servers. I use them from #Imwald Android and it's so nice, fr. I love that I can switch from English to German, if I want, and it then does the grammar check in German. I think it does language auto-detection, as well, but that's always a bit iffy. image

That short path between a church abandoning the Mass and the other sacraments, and people thinking watching TV on the couch or chatting about God with their computer is an adequate substitute for practicing their religion.

Am I paranoid or does this stuff sound sloppy? Maybe he's just using a translator? But it's all so _agree and amplify_. @Julien Dambron

This reminds me. I feel like this attractiveness range (it applies to both friends and potential mates) explains why so many people think LLMs are *Wow, so smart!* but some of us are completely underwhelmed. Like, I'm impressed with the stuff it can do and how much tedious effort I can offload to it -- although I have started missing the tedious stuff, actually, there's something to be said for zoning out to tedious labour -- but it mostly seems like a programmable robot and a chatty search engine, to me. And I only interact with the most-advanced models. Everything lesser seems dull and dumb as dog shit. Like that annoying guy at the döner store who tries to chat you up, but can barely reason his way out of a paper box, and it's like, Just give me the döner, please. 🥙 Mr. Chatbot, just give me the damned döner. Vibe-coding gets you out of the box really fast, but I'm sick of not knowing my way around the code and building in languages I haven't learnt yet, like Kotlin and Elixir. In 10 days my Cursor Ultra switches to the much-cheaper Cursor Pro and my development journey will change. I want to hand-roll a lot more, going forward. Also, vibe-coding gets incredibly tedious, incredibly fast, if you do it for 60 hours/week. I feel like I've "done" vibe-coding and I miss stuff like Jenkins (don't shoot me).
