GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him. While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" He heard this and said, "Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners."โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ Jesus told his disciples this parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out at dawn to hire laborers for his vineyard. After agreeing with them for the usual daily wage, he sent them into his vineyard. Going out about nine o'clock, the landowner saw others standing idle in the marketplace, and he said to them, 'You too go into my vineyard, and I will give you what is just.' So they went off. And he went out again around noon, and around three o'clock, and did likewise. Going out about five o'clock, the landowner found others standing around, and said to them, 'Why do you stand here idle all day?' They answered, 'Because no one has hired us.' He said to them, 'You too go into my vineyard.' When it was evening the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, 'Summon the laborers and give them their pay, beginning with the last and ending with the first.' When those who had started about five o'clock came, each received the usual daily wage. So when the first came, they thought that they would receive more, but each of them also got the usual wage. And on receiving it they grumbled against the landowner, saying, 'These last ones worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who bore the day's burden and the heat.' He said to one of them in reply, 'My friend, I am not cheating you. Did you not agree with me for the usual daily wage? Take what is yours and go. What if I wish to give this last one the same as you? Or am I not free to do as I wish with my own money? Are you envious because I am generous?' Thus, the last will be first, and the first will be last."โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ When a large crowd gathered, with people from one town after another journeying to Jesus, he spoke in a parable. โ€œA sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path and was trampled, and the birds of the sky ate it up. Some seed fell on rocky ground, and when it grew, it withered for lack of moisture. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked it. And some seed fell on good soil, and when it grew, it produced fruit a hundredfold.โ€ After saying this, he called out, โ€œWhoever has ears to hear ought to hear.โ€ Then his disciples asked him what the meaning of this parable might be. He answered, โ€œKnowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God has been granted to you; but to the rest, they are made known through parables so that they may look but not see, and hear but not understand. โ€œThis is the meaning of the parable. The seed is the word of God. Those on the path are the ones who have heard, but the Devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts that they may not believe and be saved. Those on rocky ground are the ones who, when they hear, receive the word with joy, but they have no root; they believe only for a time and fall away in time of temptation. As for the seed that fell among thorns, they are the ones who have heard, but as they go along, they are choked by the anxieties and riches and pleasures of life, and they fail to produce mature fruit. But as for the seed that fell on rich soil, they are the ones who, when they have heard the word, embrace it with a generous and good heart, and bear fruit through perseverance.โ€โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herodโ€™s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources.โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ A certain Pharisee invited Jesus to dine with him, and he entered the Phariseeโ€™s house and reclined at table. Now there was a sinful woman in the city who learned that he was at table in the house of the Pharisee. Bringing an alabaster flask of ointment, she stood behind him at his feet weeping and began to bathe his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them, and anointed them with the ointment. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this he said to himself, โ€œIf this man were a prophet, he would know who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, that she is a sinner.โ€ Jesus said to him in reply, โ€œSimon, I have something to say to you.โ€ โ€œTell me, teacher,โ€ he said. โ€œTwo people were in debt to a certain creditor; one owed five hundred daysโ€™ wages and the other owed fifty. Since they were unable to repay the debt, he forgave it for both. Which of them will love him more?โ€ Simon said in reply, โ€œThe one, I suppose, whose larger debt was forgiven.โ€ He said to him, โ€œYou have judged rightly.โ€ Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, โ€œDo you see this woman? When I entered your house, you did not give me water for my feet, but she has bathed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but she has not ceased kissing my feet since the time I entered. You did not anoint my head with oil, but she anointed my feet with ointment. So I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; hence, she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.โ€ He said to her, โ€œYour sins are forgiven.โ€ The others at table said to themselves, โ€œWho is this who even forgives sins?โ€ But he said to the woman, โ€œYour faith has saved you; go in peace.โ€โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ Jesus said to his disciples: โ€œA good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not pick figs from thornbushes, nor do they gather grapes from brambles. A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good, but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil; for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks. โ€œWhy do you call me, โ€˜Lord, Lord,โ€™ but not do what I command? I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, listens to my words, and acts on them. That one is like a man building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well built. But the one who listens and does not act is like a person who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against it, it collapsed at once and was completely destroyed.โ€โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ Luke 6:39-42 Jesus told his disciples a parable: "Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit? No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher. Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,' when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother's eye."โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ Luke 6:27-38 Jesus said to his disciples: โ€œTo you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic. Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same. If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, and get back the same amount. But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back; then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful, just as also your Father is merciful. โ€œStop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.โ€โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ Luke 6:20-26 Raising his eyes toward his disciples Jesus said: โ€œBlessed are you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours. Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who are now weeping, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude and insult you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your reward will be great in heaven. For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way. But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. But woe to you who are filled now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will grieve and weep. Woe to you when all speak well of you, for their ancestors treated the false prophets in this way.โ€โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ Luke 4:38-44 After Jesus left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon. Simonโ€™s mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever, and they interceded with him about her. He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up immediately and waited on them. At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases brought them to him. He laid his hands on each of them and cured them. And demons also came out from many, shouting, โ€œYou are the Son of God.โ€ But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak because they knew that he was the Christ. At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place. The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him, they tried to prevent him from leaving them. But he said to them, โ€œTo the other towns also I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God, because for this purpose I have been sent.โ€ And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ Luke 4:16-30 Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord. Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him. He said to them, โ€œToday this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.โ€ And all spoke highly of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. They also asked, โ€œIs this not the son of Joseph?โ€ He said to them, โ€œSurely you will quote me this proverb, โ€˜Physician, cure yourself,โ€™ and say, โ€˜Do here in your native place the things that we heard were done in Capernaum.โ€™โ€ And he said, โ€œAmen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place. Indeed, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah when the sky was closed for three and a half years and a severe famine spread over the entire land. It was to none of these that Elijah was sent, but only to a widow in Zarephath in the land of Sidon. Again, there were many lepers in Israel during the time of Elisha the prophet; yet not one of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.โ€ When the people in the synagogue heard this, they were all filled with fury. They rose up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong. But he passed through the midst of them and went away.โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

GM๐ŸŒ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ John 1:45-51 Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth." But Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come from Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see." Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, "Here is a true child of Israel. There is no duplicity in him." Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree." Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel." Jesus answered and said to him, "Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this." And he said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
