Just realized I haven’t heard of stores being looted, buildings burnt, or property being destroyed in outrage about the Charlie Kirk assasination. We’re not the same. The “both sides” BS doesn’t work with me.

Accidentally cut someone off in traffic this morning. He followed me til I stopped, jumped out of his truck, and started screaming at me. I said I made a mistake, it wasn’t intentional and then just kept silent. De-escalated best I could but had hand on pistol ready if it went south. Been replaying all day in my mind. I could have easily got back in his face and expressed my opinion on his unhinged behavior. In the end, I did make a mistake and he is nobody I care about. I’m now ack hanging out with my wife and looking forward to seeing my grandkids in a month. Keep your head on a swivel, lot of people out there at their breaking point.

I spent the morning putting linemen on transmission line structures with a helicopter. Total concentration required. Until I got done, I didn’t have any mental bandwidth to think about all the bad stuff in media. It was a nice break. News got you down? Try doing something worthwhile that requires total concentration. It’s great therapy and the benefits extend well beyond the time spent.

Charlie Kirk was an icon of civil debate. He showed us how to adamantly disagree and still remain calm, how to engage and wrestle with words rather than violence. His death is a great loss for his family, our nation, and the state of AZ. Though we are confident he is in the presence of his Lord Jesus, he’ll be missed by so many here.

My culture is high trust. None of my neighbors have ever needed a lock to keep their stuff safe from me. I have no interest in living cross culturally among low trust people.

My dad worked for IBM. When they were developing AS400 small mainframe computer in the 70s and 80s they legit believed most people would be working 20hr weeks by 2000 since computers would create so much efficiency. They were wrong. AI and robotics aren’t going to give you a life of ease, they’ll just make it possible to get more done in your work week. Productive work is a gift, might as well choose to enjoy it.

I think some bitcoiners might benefit from a time working for the government just to learn they’re not as smart, competent, and powerful as many seem to think. Just even a small amount of resistance and telling them to GFY will make them back off in many areas.
