A neat way to do trustless digital commerce on Nostr and Bitcoin HTLCs (Hashed Time-Locked Contracts) enable trustless swaps of digital goods between Nostr users. The basic idea: during the swap, both parties must log in at least once per day — otherwise, the transfer doesn’t complete. (That’s the time lock part.) Each digital item can be given a unique name, embedded on-chain via an OP_RETURN, and referenced in Nostr relays using the "d" tag. There, you can describe your artwork, explain it, set a price, and provide contact info. The art can be stored on blossom servers. If someone likes what they see, they can initiate a transfer — and the HTLC dance begins. If the seller agrees to the price, they settle the payment, and the buyer has 24 hours to claim ownership of the piece. Later on, the buyer can resell the artwork, in the same way — maybe after the artist becomes famous and successful.

Jack really does sub divide topics into 3's 🤣 8% is nothing, seems like non-story. Of course AI will do a great job filling in the gaps. Smart management imho. View quoted note → image
The problem with @fiatjaf's take is it sets up a false choice: either you have a fully centralized global feed like TikTok, or nothing algorithmic can ever work on Nostr. That’s just not true. You don’t need a perfect global view to build smart feeds. Clients can query multiple relays, relays can share data, you can pay for indexing — there’s a whole design space there. Saying “NEVER” ignores all the creative stuff people could build. It’s not about turning Nostr into something else — it’s about exploring what kinds of discovery work well within its structure. Open world, not closed door. View quoted note →
This is a wonderful example of the "No true Scotsman" fallacy: "If that is what you think Nostr needs to be good and popular then you'll first have to destroy Nostr by turning it into something else" Nostr with a global feed -- the horror! View quoted note →
The seminal work on WoT and and reputation differentiates two important things 1. Observed / Derived Reputation (ie good posts, vs celebrity status) 2. Individual / Broup Reputation (ie good person vs good project) Trust and reputation is complex. And also without skin in the game communities degrade without both reward and punishment incentives. image
