ChatGPT: Would you like me to show you a simple command you can use in the terminal? Me: Yes. Spits out a string that looks like a chicken walked across your fresh poured concrete 🤣

The leader of the industrial robotics race is a nation which according to the western narratives, has an overwhelming surplus of humans and isn't afraid to treat them like slaves? 🤔 View quoted note →

Apparently this makes your browser grow a pair and force the page to use those beautiful old typewriter fonts. Reverts to normal after refresh ☹️ const style = document.createElement('style'); style.innerHTML = '* { font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace !important; }'; document.head.appendChild(style); image

I feel like ChatGPT is trying to impress me with its knowledge instead of helping me. Goal: when someone transmits on their radio tuned to say 123.4567 MHz using a CTCSS tone of 156.7, the other radio receives the transmission and passes it on to an internet-connected device where I can hear it on my laptop, phone, etc. My thought was an HT > patch cable > old Android running Zello app should be able to do this. ChatGPT says I need to connect an SDR dongle to a Pi then run a bunch of code I don't understand. More code if you need it to auto-run at reboot or only rebroadcast the audio instead of constantly streaming the silence too, plus even more code to only rebroadcast transmissions that have the CTCSS tone. Why does ChatGPT have an aversion to recommending anything with a GUI?

He brings up an interesting point about some members of Congress being unable to do their job on a congressman's salary. Have you ever run across a rusty old tool that was used in an ancient technology? I don't know, something like porcelain or glass insulators for residential electrical wiring? That's basically how I view the US government. A creation for a time when the fastest mode of communication was a letter-carrier on a horse. And it's funny how they talk out of both sides of their mouth. On the one hand, they want us to believe they're such great experts at digital security that we have no reason to fear our sensitive chats and emails being leaked through a government-mandated backdoor. Meanwhile, members of Congress have to ignore pollution caused by air travel, and keep flying between their district and DC because there's no confidence in this same government's capacity to facilitate secure, digital, remote-voting on legislation. Fack. Ghost browser used to have this option. "Currently, no mainstream Android browser officially supports a permanently visible address bar during scrolling. The auto-hiding behavior is standard across the platform for usability and screen optimization."

I don't know who at @Alby made the executive decision to change the mascot from a lovable bee to a silhouette resembling the gang of violent squatters who attempted to murder me last week for trying to mow my lawn. Not cool, bro. 🤣

Steve's commentary on #v4v music at the end of this rewind episode got me thinking more about the 'no genres' challenge. Not sure such a thing is even feasible in v4v since there's no central authority to set and enforce the categorizations. Who would decide, the artist, the playback app? Seems like v4v music shows are the only viable solution to find music of a specific genre since the show host's split of the boosts gives them a financial incentive to stay faithful to the specific genres they promote. Problem with that is there don't seem to be all that many v4v music shows, and even fewer dedicated to a specific genre. Another need is v4v music apps with the playback features of legacy apps. Artist, Album, Genre (even if it's just listener-designated), Year, EQ settings, etc. Most of the apps I've tried so far - both for music and podcasts - feel kind of like the listener experience has to take a back seat to the v4v stuff.

Bought one of those $45 SDR dongles that's supposed to turn a computer into a police scanner. Four hours with ChatGPT and I managed to turn my laptop into a $5 FM radio. Long enough USB cable and the dongle could probably serve as a coffee mug warmer. 🤣
