Is it normal for a bitcoin miner to keep hashing when there's no internet access?
I guess it would make sense if it's designed to be a heater that mines bitcoin, but what about in the case of a purpose-built miner where the extra heat isn't necessarily desired?
Do the pros have systems in place to prevent their miners from sitting there wasting electricity, or do they just have multiple sources of internet access?

"Wi-Fi equipment manufacturers have widely used RP-SMA connectors to comply with specific national regulations, such as those from the FCC, which are designed to prevent consumers from connecting antennas that provide additional gain and therefore breach Part 15 compliance. However, by 2000, the FCC regarded the connectors as readily available, though delaying its ruling indefinitely. As of 2018, leading manufacturers such as Netgear and Linksys are still using RP-SMA connectors on their Wi-Fi equipment."
The radio industry definitely doesn't have enough antenna connector types. We should try to double it to say, 300 million ๐คก

This is already happening to an extent in the US. People forced to beg at churches and food banks because hackers with non-existent PoS terminals hundreds or even thousands of miles away are skimming benefits from EBT cards within minutes of them being loaded with new funds. View quoted note โ

One thing that confuses me about Bitcoin is that if I were to use it to buy a machinegun, apparently cops would be raiding my house that day but some scumbag can mine CSAM into a block and nobody can locate him?

I don't know what to think about the moon landing. If it did happen that long ago, it seems like we should be a lot further along technologically (assuming space exploration R&D money wasn't being embezzled).
Also, maybe technology has advanced exponentially but they're keeping some of it hidden from the tax cattle who helped pay for it.
One scenario I could absolutely see happening is recording equipment snafus made it a visual nothingburger so they enlisted Hollywood to create dramatized footage for the plebs.
All I know is the number of vials of "moon dust" I've seen for sale makes me wonder whether they went there in a rocket or a dump truck lol

I think it was @WantClue who recently did a video warning Bitaxe users to make sure their power supply isn't being asked to deliver a constant long duration output of more than 80% of rated maximum.
Anyone know if this is a universal recommendation, specifically does it also apply to mining heaters like the Canaan Avalon brand?

He brings up an interesting point about some members of Congress being unable to do their job on a congressman's salary.
Have you ever run across a rusty old tool that was used in an ancient technology? I don't know, something like porcelain or glass insulators for residential electrical wiring? That's basically how I view the US government. A creation for a time when the fastest mode of communication was a letter-carrier on a horse.
And it's funny how they talk out of both sides of their mouth. On the one hand, they want us to believe they're such great experts at digital security that we have no reason to fear our sensitive chats and emails being leaked through a government-mandated backdoor. Meanwhile, members of Congress have to ignore pollution caused by air travel, and keep flying between their district and DC because there's no confidence in this same government's capacity to facilitate secure, digital, remote-voting on legislation.
