Bitcoin circular economies will never take off if the store of value function isn’t secure against AI finding vulnerabilities like with recent incidents with Coldcard, Lightning, Liquid, etc. Extremely secure storage, even on higher layers, has to come first. You can’t build a medium of exchange ecosystem on top of a store of value people are afraid to hold.

Japanese non-Muslims are doing Dawah much better than Muslims. The dawah tables have gotta go man, we need to go all in on artistic expression image

Yes. We are going to use our freedom to say whatever we want, even if it does not conform to your liberal/egalitarian/progressive/anti-oppression politics or whatever. Believing in a western-centric political framework doesn’t make it correct, and it shouldn’t automatically become the dominant ideology in this space. That is a form of privilege and it is actually quite toxic 🙂 View quoted note →

I have a dumb question. I don't use AI all that much except for helping me summarize chapters of books, technical things I need help with regarding my home server and Linux, and occasionally helping me organize my thoughts for writing essays. What am I supposed to put as the default system prompt here? Is it fine to leave it blank? I get that it's probably ultimately a personal choice of what to put, but I'm just seeing what other people use. Using Maple AI. image

Kinda glad Sneako stopped talking about Bitcoin because he's really really lost the plot. Starting a political party won't change anything, even if you somehow do get votes. It's even more ridiculous to start it for Muslims in the US. It's just so dumb. It's all so tiresome.

Nostr is a hyperstitional relay network, a decentralized nomadic war machine whose recursive feedback loops transmute signed events and zaps into an emergent network spirituality, producing sovereign forms of swarm-like association that escape the territorial logic of both platform and state. You must conceive of Nostr being at the intersection of all 4 punk alignments image

I find it funny that the core devs are using Google, and knots devs are using Discord. Poetic, and it really encapsulates the state of Bitcoin development right now. View quoted note →

Another great read "The appropriate measure of commitment is therefore not whether someone would die for Bitcoin. A dramatic sacrifice may take a moment. Building a school takes years. Operating an honest business takes decades. Raising competent children takes a generation. Preserving an institution without capturing it for private benefit may require a lifetime. The more serious commitment is the willingness to live under discipline. It appears in those who save patiently, tell the truth when deception is profitable, care for others during hardship and build institutions they may never personally control." View article →

What I find most illuminating about the anti-BIP110 campaign isn't really any of the technical arguments (although those are important), but the overall social strategy. There was a real coalition of privacy advocates (like Samourai and Wasabi developers agreeing on something!) and certain independent developers and long-time critics of Bitcoin Knots who opposed BIP110, yet they were largely overshadowed while the campaign instead wrapped itself around Saylor, Andy, Coinbase, and other institutions in the "Bitcoin Security Consortium." From a consensus building perspective, that seems like a missed opportunity or an odd own goal. I mean if I were trying to build opposition, I'd have elevated the privacy and decentralization voices, not the institutions that many Bitcoiners are already largely skeptical of. The technical debate is one thing, ok, but at the social layer the anti-BIP110 side seemed to misunderstand how Bitcoiners actually form consensus, like they are socially retarded.

Can't stand folks on here saying nostr is dead and complaining it hasn't reached mass adoption or whatever. It's like watching someone complain in 1973 that ARPANET hasn't replaced the television. Not only are your expectations far removed from reality, you still don't even know what function nostr is actually trying to serve because you still haven't done the work in trying to grok what the Nostr protocol even is. Take time to reflect and study first. Maybe start asking yourself why you are even here in the first place.

I have a jellyfin server set up on my umbrel. I'm wondering if I should torrent media from my umbrel directly or torrent from my laptop and just ftp the media over to the umbrel. Is torrenting even a good idea on the same server that's running my bitcoin + lightning node? Not sure the best way to go about this. Obviously the bitcoin stuff and media would be on separate drives. #asknostr
