The Bitcoin network is under attack, and block production has slowed significantly. The community is preparing mitigations to resolve the situation. In the meantime, attackers are spreading misinformation and advising users to downgrade or switch to insecure node software. Users are strongly advised not to downgrade or switch to software that weakens Bitcoin's consensus protections. Doing so may compromise your security and expose you to false confirmations from blocks that are invalid under Bitcoin's consensus rules. If you have already downgraded, upgrade to the latest version of Bitcoin Knots. Knots will attempt to repair the resulting chain state and return your node to the valid chain. Miners who restart their nodes may need to add the following to bitcoin.conf: maxtipage=2592000 Another announcement will be published as soon as a mitigation is ready. If you would like to participate in the ongoing mitigation strategy, please join our Discord: A new proof-of-work algorithm will be chosen on August 11th at 14:00 UTC in the Discord #strategy channel, based on a deterministic random choice between candidates. A relevant hash for that proof-of-fairness: 71a7960874f3352f4ba600ce67bd6f8e96702565abea93021fa86349d99a45e8

The main chain is toast, I suspect non-KYC UTXO's will begin being frozen within 5 years. They'll start with the most reprehensible figures in society, like human traffickers and move on from there to bigger and bigger fish. The masses will say nothing, maybe even cheer it on like they did here on nostr. Weapons deals between Russia and China will have no problem getting through, but plebs in each country with fines and wrongthink will be the targets. The subversion of bitcoin has worked the exactly like the subversion of government, business, and everything else. Last weekend taught me that the only reason bitcoin is "freedom money" right now is because they're allowing it to act as such. I'll be in something censorship resistant when that time comes.

You're not doing ANYBODY any favors when you tell them to switch to a chain that isn't being mined. be better.
Son, are you seriously trying to weave a spell on the people over here? You don't have the mana. image
Run FROM #BIP110 at this point. These niggas are fucking spiralling. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ They should just give us the configurable filters to slow spam propagation. πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ Nobody is following them off a cliff. πŸ€™

This is absolutely hilarious and delusional. It's getting cringe.

We are watching left curve being slaughtered live and there is nothing we can do about it. At least I am getting new air drop. Don't think it will be worth much though.
Laser, me and you, we are both reasonable. I can easily see why this is hilarious. But I can intellectually also see the *logic* behind it. If you can step out of your shoes and see this from a perspective of someone like Luke, just for a minute, we can discuss why this PoW change and narrative of attack is both problematic AND not neccesarily logically unsound. Btw. The fact that it might be logically sound doesn't mean it will apply to the real world. I'm just craving a real honest discussion with someone who isn't either on the completely delusional side or the completely close-minded side. The reason I say it is logically sound, is because, by my understanding, the missing piece of the puzzle is the missing URSF. Care to share your thoughts? Any helpful response might also help others to understand the situation better.

"attack" The Bitcoin network did literally *nothing*. It didn't even notice BIP110 No URSF, no invalidateblock. Miners didn't make any change to their templates, or their signalling code Bitcoin didn't defeat BIP110, it ignored it
its still a temporary softfork. hard fork is for changing pow against the miners. which we have known was an option even before knots vs core let alone bip110.
