so, could be out of date info but getting long term residence is basically $300 for the first year, of which 150 is the main fee, the rest is other paperwork shit. after that, $150/year. rent is cheap too, i suspect about $50/month for a basic commieblock apartment 30sqm or so, per month. less for naryn, which is where i want to go. internet 50gb/month for about $15/month, adequate. gonna go seek out the tourist data sim first tho, before i go check in, hopefully, at the kgb hostel lol. with the government antenna next door. this place is fabulous

first shiny thing i found in bishkek seems to be uzbekistani takeaway. with domashiy kompot (fruit preserve) plov seems to be the name of a rice and meat specialty. next door is actually open and it is halal which means no pork \o/ i got ripped by the taxi driver of course, paid $25 for a 24km drive. 2-3x standard local rates. same exact shit happened first time i was in sofia. doesn't happen in sofia anymore but i think that is a loss really. anyhow, i finally made it. bishkek is avsum. i am glad to be here. my hostel is easy to find also. some government facility with a giant antenna you can see from everywhere. going to go check in there a little later. the kyrgyz som, thr currency, is about 87 per usd. the bed should be about $6/night so i guess about 50-60 som. the roads are awesome also, mostly unmarked lanes, taxi driver's phone telling him where all the video kontrol is. haha. i don't really want to stay in bishkek tho. but i may need to run around searching out immigration shit. would be good tonat least know what it takes to stay here longer than 30 days every 60.

PSA: bugs found in a 4 phase audit i did last night on bitcoin knots code. most of them are from core originally. 3 from knots new code. 17 in total. these should be verified by other people who know how to use LLM and have a decent grasp of cryptography and C/C++ programming languages. i'm confident that all of them are actually bugs and some of them are moderately serious. something really important to understamd. all computers and mobile devices are required to have a fairly high grade of entrooy to do SSL/TLS. basically all operating systems, linux, macos, windows, ios, android. all make quality entropy. the system needs them for auth and encryption. the stuff about airgaps is more relevant to highly vulnerable systems like windows. malware is almost nonexistent on all other systems. and devices that can snarf entropy are expensive and rarely deployed. grug security is right - run linux. that is the whole deal.

so, i think i have the story straight now. bitcoin core 30+ and non-knots other versions will chainsplit - there will be two parallel chains side by side now, with knots bip-110. yes in theory, it may not happen straight away, because bip-110 compliant blocks are allowed on bitcoin core chain, but not the other way around. but the chances it doesn't happen within 3 blocks seems implausible to me considering only ocean is mining bip-110. the reason why the split will happen is because blocks with big op_return and witnesses will not be accepted as best blocks on knots/bip-110 sidechain. idk why there is so much confusion about it. this wouldn't be the case if it had been able to get 55% hashpower on it before flag day in 3 days, but now that seems very unlikely (maybe 3%?) there is going to be two chains. i'm supporting the bip-110 chain but i'm filtering out new taproot outputs completely on my modified (and heavily audited) fork of knots. if anyone happens to also run this version it will do the same, it will not mine new taproot utxos. it will be difficult to talk about exchanging them across the two sidechains, because it's not a total fork - all monetary transactions (which you would be swapping) are already on both sides.
