One of my fondest memories was hiking the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and sleeping on the Esplanade—one of the large flat rock plateus before the final descent down to the Colorado river.
It was such a wide and vast space with absolute zero artificial light, that you can see the Milky Way and constellations moving across the sky in brilliant hues.
It was truly an awe inspiring moment and I’m grateful to God for His creation and the fact we get to enjoy it. View quoted note →

I love trading. Been doing it for a decade+ as a serious thing for me.
I don’t have a hundred monitors and most the time I can do what I do via my phone or iPad, so I don’t even have to be at my trade station.
But when I am, I find emotions are much less in play. So I prefer to be at my computer as it’s a layer of protection through discipline.
Anyone can learn to trade and there are a thousand different ways to do it.
There are fewer vehicles (skills one can learn) that grant the most optionality with least risk based upon effort.
Don’t get me wrong, it takes effort and I’ve certainly lost my fair share of capital along the way. But once you dial in your emotions and trade in a mechanical disciplined manner, it’s simple to become successful.
In short, you just can’t be greedy and you gotta stack base hits.
That’s why most people who trade fail.
They want the glory of home run after home run followed by a grand slam (for those paying attention and know Baseball, that’s not probable let alone possible becasue if you hit a home run there is no one left on base to fulfill the requirements of a grand slam!)
Another thing that helped me is I’ve learned to focus on one or two assets to trade if I’m scalping. This keeps me focused and I really learn the nuances of the underlying.
For me, that’s Gold. It’s reliable in its moves and there is tons (pun intended) of liquidity across markets (ETFs, futures, forex, even your pawn shop deals in gold).
Likewise, there are some assets I don’t trade…I accumulate (ie BTC). Or if I do trade something I’m stacking, it’s part of a pair rotation or portfolio rebalance.
My general approach to business, and yes to me trading is a business, is: trade for cash flow then parlay a percent of profits into growing the asset you traded and a percent into my macro beliefs—what I’m stacking (want to accumulate more of).
P.S. @TuvokSeed I just upgraded my trade station yesterday.

View quoted note →Goooooood Morning Nostriches!
(Trying to get back in the habit of greeting y’all, even if these are the only posts I can get up in the day.)
A long time ago I read a book, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day, I believe the author is Mark Batterson.
There were lots of good nuggets in the book but the premise and title hinged around a singular sentence from 1 Samuel (from the Bible’s Old Testament) which recounts Benaiah’s victories for King David for whom Benaiah later became captain of David’s bodyguards.
Fast forward at least forty years…David has passed and his son Solomon is now king. Many, believers or not, know of King Solomon as the “wisest man who ever lived”. (He was also the wealthiest, because he asked God for Wisdom and Knowledge over worldly riches, God rewarded Solomon with both).
Well, Benaiah is still alive and wouldn’t you know it? He’s an assassin! One of the first duties Solomon has him do is go find and kill the betrayers of Solomon’s father, King David.
Now…these are some obscure and arguably minor passages in scripture. A sentence here. A few more there…but Benaiah was obviously important enough to be:
A. Trusted by kings
B. Included in both the Jewish, Early / Orthodox and Protestant Christian Bibles
As I reflect on this a couple of thoughts comes to mind.
1. Benaiah found purpose in his mission. Too often, myself included, we fall back into non-productive habits. We ignore our Why. We wonder why we aren’t motivated with urgency to accomplish the mission of our king (as Christians). Usually I find it’s becasue I’m looking for motivation instead of towards the mission. It comes down to confusion of clarity.
Motiviation comes from pursuing a worthwhile mission!
2. No matter how big, or for most of us, how small our mission may seem. As is written in the New Testament Gospels, if you believe in and on the ever living king, Jesus, your name too will be written in the only book that will matter for eternity. The Lamb’s Book of Life.
So as leaders. As business owners. As a spouse, a parent, a friend…a human. Get clear on the mission THE KING has assigned you; and then don’t stop until it’s completed or He gives you a new mission to motivate.
God bless,
Jason

Good Morning Nostriches!
In the Faith Driven Investor cohort I just wrapped up leading, we started the journey being unaware of how the assets God has entrusted us can be used in a capitalistic manner that goes beyond “return on investment”.
We learned that at a bare minimum ROI should be calculated as Return on Impact and penultimately as Return on / Rescue of Image Bearers…
Because, that’s what we are. We and all of creation bears the image of God.
I just read the following story and thought it was relevant to what we’ve studied together.
“…one Sunday, sitting anonymously in church, I heard the phrase “hope carrier.”
That wasn’t branding. It was conviction.
I wasn’t built to accumulate; I was built to carry hope into dark places.
I didn’t need another deal. I needed an assignment.
That shift wasn’t a career pivot. It was a soul recalibration.
My calendar didn’t get easier. But the mission got clearer.
I wasn’t leaving something behind; I was finally stepping into the real fight.
Once you know who you are and why you’re here, you stop counting upside and start counting impact.“
—-
Yes money is important. We are called to multiply it.
But if our multiplication only involves bigger barns and fancy cars when the roof over another’s head is the proverbial cardboard box.
Are we really bearing the image of God?
Are we seeking the right type of return?!
Maybe instead of seeking only return on investment, we simply need to accept the assignment…
We simply need to step into the rescue mission with the capital we’ve been entrusted with.
—-
I’ll be leading another cohort at the start of Q4. If you’re interested in joining let me know…the content is provided for free. I merely ask for you to show up and participate in the conversation as we learn, lead, and grow together.

I’m reminded of two things when reading this.
1. My wife and I have a “no divorce” (“d-word”) covenant. It simply isn’t an option. We don’t joke about it. We don’t entertain it or the steps such as separation that leads up to it…we surround ourselves with inputs and people that will help us fight for one another and not with or against…
2. John Eldgredge wrote in Wild at Heart (published in the ‘90’s if I recall) that for decades leading up to that point there has been intentional demasculinization of society. A spiritual (for Millenia) and physical (for decades) attack on the family unit. As the spiritual leaders of our homes, as men, we must do everything we can through the power of Holy Spirit, Christ the Son, and God the Father to put on the full Armor of God and fight tooth and nail agasint anything and everything to protect our family unit.
This means and reinforces, divorce is not an option…and yea…I too need to do a better job of leading myself so I can model for my son how he needs to prepare and lead his future wife and child(den) here on Earth, for the Kingdom of Heaven!
This whole proof of work thing doesn’t leave much time for NOSTR…

Good EARLY morning Nostriches!
Woke naturally just before 4am.
At first I was like “nah, I’m gonna shove this dog to the other side of the bed so I can continue to sleep…”
But by the time my brain processed that thought, it was on and to the races.
I really do enjoy waking this early. It gives me a lot of time to myself and I’m WAY more consistent with my personal time with God,
I’m still reading through the Psalms and here is part of today’s reading:
“The little that the righteous man has is better than the abundance of many wicked people. For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord supports the righteous.
The Lord watches over the blameless all their days, and their inheritance will last forever. They will not be disgraced in times of adversity; they will be satisfied in days of hunger.
But the wicked will perish; the Lord’s enemies, like the glory of the pastures, will fade away — they will fade away like smoke. The wicked man borrows and does not repay, but the righteous one is gracious and giving.”
Psalms 37:16-21 HCSB
I could help but think about Bitcoin when reading this passage. I know contextually that God didn’t write it specifically about BTC, but it brought a smile to my face thinking of it when I was reading.
What this really reminds me of is the spiritual nature of creation, of our lives and this world.
Ephesians 6:12 states, we are in a battle, "… not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
You know, recently I’ve heard from several sources that the 3am-4am hour historically was the turning of the 4th watch of the night.
One source I saw indicated many notable Biblical spiritual battles occurred during this time. And if God awakens you during this time of night, it is because you’ve been called to arms.
So with that, I bid you good morning, and turn my attention back to the battle I’ve been awakened to intercede for.
God bless your day!

Good Sunday morning Nostriches!
Sometimes I forget the simple power of saying hello each day.
Got another 5 hours or so left on my 18:6 fast, probably won’t make it due to schedule today but I’ll get close!
Yesterday I harvested the root veggies from the late winter/early spring garden. Had to lay down the broccoli but hopeful for the Brussels Sprouts to produce yield yet (albeit it’s already pushing 90°’s outside, soil temp is still good.
The Toscano Kale and Bell Peppers are doing great still.
God bless your day.

I understand Bitcoin asks us to strongly consider the effects of the fiat monetary system we currently operate under and move toward actively separating ourselves from it, by adopting a Bitcoin Standard.
The more I study, the more I realize it’s less about BTC and more about time preference.
Granted if one remains on a fiat standard, saving broken money, the fiat erosion will outpace the typical rate we are able to save. Especially considering all other erosion such as taxes, etc…
Thus, a new system is required. A system that aligns with low time preference and proof of work.
As stated in Thank God for Bitcoin:
“The goal is to create a world more aligned with God to the benefit of others, not to seek meaning in material wealth. If monetary gain becomes our goal and focus, we have already lost...Whatever wealth we get from Bitcoin is only useful to God if we use it to love God and our neighbors. Good money is a gift that can help us be better, but it is not an end in and of itself.”
It seems to me that Bitcoin really only has a price becasue of the existence of fiat. Hence the current fiat exchange rate of 1 BTC = $100k+ and the mantra 1 BTC or sat = 1 BTC or sat…
Let’s for a moment assume the majority of the world is on a Bitcoin Standard; items and services are demonimated in BTC or sats…what then?
Bitcoin becomes a medium of exchange. It truly becomes functional money vs it’s approximate state of being a better money.
What then? Will not prices just inflate denominated in Bitcoin instead of fiat becasue of man’s moral issues with greed?
I guess the answer is, some will…Bitcoin doesn’t purport to fix people with a bad nature. Rather it has the indirect, and arguably direct, benefit of attracting those whom desire to contribute positively to society (their communities).
Which brings me to a question I’d love to hear answers from this community for: If Bitcoin is a gift, which I believe it is, and it’s better money, which I also believe; is it only needed becasue the current fiat system is so dysfunctional?
Furthermore, if Bitcoin only needed as money becasue fiat exists, what happens when the world is on a Bitcoin Standard? There will be no need to measure the price of BTC as 1 BTC will be recognized as 1 BTC..so how will Bitcoin be used as a unit of account? Merely by the proof of work of non-idle hands of the people that transact with it?

There are other approaches than purely paying extra each month.
For example using a First Lien/position HELOC or even splitting one’s payment so you pay the same amount but spread across twice a month is another strategy.
The article is good and I think the “aha” for me and the take away most would be interested in is “Hopefully you’re still using that Big Green Egg [$1800 grill] in 30 years, because by that time, it will have cost you almost $13,000 in additional interest payments.”
We live in such a consumerism and materialistic world that we have to start to reverse that. One of the ways to do so is to anchor purchases to something, whether it be a mortgage on a home or in my opinion, Bitcoin…
When we anchor and thus price the cost of something against another thing, w can begin to gain an objective view of how much value something will create in our lives.
Mathematically a Big Green Egg costing $13k over 30 years (assuming it still works then) may not seem right, but perhaps the value it creates in your life and opportunities for family to gather over the years is well worth the price.
A personal example for me is the Optimus robot, assuming it can cook!
A real point of struggle in my house is all three of us eat differently, part medical reason but mostly preference. As the current “chef” in the home, it’s difficult to make three different enough meals a couple times a day…it takes time…let alone the added stife it sometimes creates!
$30k for an Optimus that can eliminate the frustration, create time for me, and move us all closer to our health goals…
Well that’s a drop in the bucket and I’ll gladly pay it! View article →
Good Morning Nostriches!
“Inflation in our current monetary system demands ever-increasing sacrifices from the community. To preserve wealth in an inflationary economy, a large investment of time, energy, and even money is required.
Consider the prevalence of financial services such as professional investing, tax accounting, and retirement planning. These are all mechanisms that, among other things, attempt to outrun inflation.
None of these “wealth advisory services” existed as professions under the gold standard; there was no need for them.
Like a treadmill that requires a lot of effort to go nowhere, broken money requires everyone who wants to preserve the value of their wealth to constantly work.”
