It is with an exhausted mind and body that I bid you Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and Good Night. Normally when I wake at 3am its because my brain turns on and I can’t fall back asleep. I also usually get to take a late morning nap to get me through the day. Not this time… The 3am wake was a phone call from my frantic mother in law, “PopPop had fallen and all he can communicate is moans.” So into action my wife and I leapt. 20 hours later of shuffling family to and from the hospital, and a 4 game basketball tournament admist… We are finally home and ready for rest. The prognosis is unclear but based on initial tests, PopPop suffered a double stroke. His mind is working but he can’t verbalize other than grunts and “mmmmm”-es and his right upper body is currently paralyzed. Obviously still early in all of this and your prayers are appreciated. We are working to transfer him to a better hospital ASAP as we’ve already encountered issues at the current one. P.S. Son had 17 points, 3 assists, and 1 rebound in the second game. He hit a clutch deep 3 to send the game into double OT! God bless #GM #GA #GN #PV

Good Morning Notriches! (I think 😏) Well, there isn’t any other way to say this than with an image. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words they say… They also say, “happy wife, happy life”. Or as my wife specifically said, “It’s time for the mid-life crisis to be over…the beard has got to go.” So…for my proof of work this morning, I present to you “old Jason”. I had my beard short for 30 years and I was really hoping to have it long (with a cool mustache of course!) for the next 30 years. Turns out I’m only allotted 3 years 😬 So here’s to the next few decades of a happy wife. Cheers and God bless you this morning! P.S. I’ve been thinking about “trust” lately, especially when it comes to leadership and relationships. It seems to me you either trust someone or you don’t. And while I’m not a fan of all or nothing thinking. There isn’t halfway trust or trust in one thing but not another. Because trust is a lag indicator of the lead indicator, integrity. So someone either has integrity and thus is trustworthy or they don’t and they aren’t. This begs further reflection and questions regarding when someone messes up. We all do, right? No human is perfect. So then is there a trust meter? If so at what point does a relationship cross over between trustworthy vs untrustworthy and how is this so called trust meter different than the above wherein I believe you either trust someone or you don’t. Let’s use an example of spouses. If my spouse says they don’t trust me in ABC. Does that mean they don’t trust me in other areas? In other words is it possible to trust someone in one area but not another? Is trust then compartmentalized? And If I lack trust in someone in one area, how is it I can trust them in another without believing they are non-integral and trustworthy? If we compartmentalize trust, where then does forgiveness lay? —- I try to use the Bible as my worldview and source of truth as much as I can remember too (a las, even I am not perfect 🤪). If I consult God’s Word I see time and time again Jesus forgave the whole person…not a part of them… #Bible #Biblestr #Leadership #Wisdom #Philosophy #Jesus

Happy Tuesday Nostriches. 1. For those of you in the cold, literally, I apologize for anything bad I’ve ever said about people living up North 🙃 It was 30°F here with wind chill below that. In a few days we are expected to hit 25°F with wind chill of 9°F My pineapple plants (all 75 of them) are already crying from last week’s cold snap. I’m not sure they will survive But enough about 🍍… it was, is, and will be freezing (literally) in Florida the next 10 days 🥶 2. Thomas À Kempis wrote “The more humble a man is in himself, and the more obedient towards God, the wiser will he be in all things, and the more shall his soul be at peace.” 👆 written between 1380 and 1471 rings truer today than I think it did back then. Reading @Saifedean Ammous's Principles of Economics. As a business owner I always knew the minimum wage concept and political position is actually counter-productive to human growth (personal development) I however hadn’t thought of it in the frame that when a minimum wage is instituted, in effect it becomes illegal to hire people who can’t produce more than the minimum wage. “Wages, like all prices in a market, are not just arbitrary numbers chosen by greedy employers. They are a reflection of the marginal productivity of the worker. As the law now stipulates that a worker must be paid $10 per hour, the employer now has to reconsider whether it is worth hiring this worker. When the government mandates a minimum wage, it does not magically alter the calculus of the employer, nor does it magically increase the worker’s productivity. The employer will still only hire workers whose productivity is higher than their wage. Thus, the minimum wage law makes it illegal for employers to hire anyone whose marginal productivity is less than $10 per hour. Any worker whose productivity is less than that will now become a drain on any business that hires him and pays him that amount. Either he gets fired, or the business that hires him loses money and goes bankrupt. In all cases, these jobs are eliminated, and everyone whose productivity is less than $10 per hour is now legally unemployable; either unemployed or employed illegally.”
