A things purpose is what it does.
What core devs intended to do: depreciate the op_return filter.
What they actually did: depreciate faith in bitcoin core and the dev team.
It is true, you have to be willing to question your own knowledge and adapt your view based on new data. If you do not, you build cognitive dissonance.
Listening to @Marty Bent and @jimmysong on mining deep dive. It gets into many things that are not heavily understood by many, regarding hard vs soft forks and consensus. I learned a few things along the way,but came in with a good technical understanding to start. It is a good listen, but some of the technical knowledge might be deep for casual users. I would suggest to listen and dig deeper on the things you may not have fully grasped after it. It is a good thing to better understand these things.

I just finished this great read by @Guy Swann and he and the author are completely spot on. Better tools enhance human productivity and performance on scale. Learning to use them will do great things for your mental agility and enable more workers, not less.
