The 4,000 DAU number is disappointing because it does seem to be a decline, but moreso, it's disappointing in that it really shows that most "freedom tech" people out there are LARPing. At the end of the day, they want their blue check and they want their reach above all else.
I'm not saying anyone should give up Twitter entirely (I'm not), but I would expect the folks screeching about freedom all the time to at least start building a presence somewhere free, even out of precaution. I remember all the Twitter purges in 2018, and then during covid. It'll happen again. Plus, crossposting isn't exactly rocket science.
I am fining the UK's Office of Communications (Ofcom) a sum of $50,000 for the crime of being really fucking uppity, payable in cash, check, bitcoin, or bullion.
Unfortunately, just as their silly laws have NO EFFECT on me as a US citizen, my laws have no effect on them sadly.
Gamer oppression is a real thing, we have to protect gamers at all cost... and yet, the last group of people that I want to hear about AI from are gamers, especially the unhinged ones on Bluesky. You had nothing, and now you have something, shut up and be happy.
Being a physical media appreciator is part survival instinct and part mental illness. I've been considering backing up my GOG installers and I've found that people do make shelf worthy backups. I don't know if this is more survival or mental illness, but I'm considering it...
I've been playing Alwa's Legacy lately (I'm a sucker for Metroidvanias). I played it's predecessor on the NES, so I'm still hoping this one gets a 16-bit port someday (it'll be the Genesis if it does happen, who am I kidding, no one does SNES homebrew).
