One thing that draws me to Bitcoin is the longing for meaningful time. In other words, I want to live a meaningful life. And I hear this expressed again and again by other Bitcoiners. It's been that way since I started trading dollars for it. That was close to 4 years ago. All we got is our time. It's precious. At 51 I feel the weight of it more and more. Lately, again, I find myself reading random passages out of "Time and The Soul," by Jacob Needleman. This morning I ran across this passage. I offer it to Bitcoiners and beyond. Hopefully it will help us get one step closer to getting our time and meaning back. "We have cut off the time of the heart from the time of the physical world. It is an artificial separation. When ancient peoples--cultures still informed by the old wisdom--spoke of time as a cycle, it was because the drama of the heart and the life of nature and matter we're not isolated from each other. Science gave us our mastery over nature by cutting away the time of the heart. We live in inorganic time. We can no more master inorganic time than we can walk through solid matter. GM from the front of fire 82. Happy New Year! A day off from the mail trail. Back at it tomorrow. It's 5 degrees out there. The sun is just starting to rise. I looked out just before 7 thinking I would see a star filled sky like I did last night. Instead it was cloudy. Everyone is still asleep. I am going to take advantage of this time to read from a good book. I used to do this faithfully before smartphones entered the picture. I miss it. My days were more peaceful. It was a good way to start the day, meditating with the mind of another as Kurt Vonnegut would say. I'm sure I'll be back to post a quote that moved me. Some things never change. Christmas Eve. Caught my oldest son on camera scraping a deer hide. The family found her in our pasture. I was delivering mail. The meat wasn't fit to eat. She looked like she was hit by a car. GM. My second day off from the mail trail. I am starting to feel better. Oh, that's right I didn't tell you I was sick. The morning after Christmas I was a pitiful man. I should've went home from work. I was chilled, nauseous, and achy while I sorted mail. I felt old beyond my years. When I got on the mail route I would continuously moan and talk to myself. It was hard to imagine the next 10 minutes. An hour in I wrote a text to my supervisor to tell her I was done. I didn't send it. Instead I texted Annie to have her bring out some pain killers. An hour later we met close to our house. She brought Tylenol, Aleve, and 2 mason jars full of water. God it was good to see her. She left disappointed though. She thought I should've called it off. It was the day after Christmas though. I was scheduled. And I didn't want to inconvenience anyone at work. A half hour later, after taking the Aleve, I felt human again. I could imagine the day progressing. It got me through. That was the worst of it. A wave of pain and nausea hit again in the afternoon. So I took a couple of Tylenol. That seemed to eventually dull it. Nothing like the Aleve though. Here I am 4 days later at 80 to 90 percent. It snowed all yesterday. When I raked it off the hood of my mail jeep at 10 PM there was over 8 inches. The wind started blowing hard at dusk. It blew the snow off the pines and created white outs. I was snow blowing then. When I went in the house to get a drink and warm up they said the lights were flickering. Ever since the power outage in the winter of 2022 there's been concern about them. Well, I am going to finish this fire off and enjoy the heat before heading out to move snow for the automobiles. It's 14 now. Half of what it was when I went to bed. I hope you have a great day!
