Heard during cabin announcement: “In the event of emergency, if you are wearing a mask please ensure you remove it before attempting to put your oxygen mask on” Some folks really attached to those things still, I guess.

Twitter this week: “here’s my fourteen part thread authored by ChatGPT for maximum punch and engagement” This local creative writing top courtesy of Substack was short-lived, it seems we’re now descending into the grey goo of AI authored blah.

Actually had to go to a fiat bank today for some foreign notes. Twenty minutes in line listening to various fees, holds, identity and paperwork problems, goodness we are so early ⚡️

Everything is so late this year. Cherries, apples and others starting to do their thing despite the persistent PNW cold and gloom. Bit of moss for you, too. image

Idly thinking about attempting a #nostr project and scanning available real estate. Geez, you folks have left nothing. All these are legit registered domains, can’t wait to see the results (though .shoes is still available - maybe a #footstr angle for someone) 👇 image

Carrying a laptop cross-border this week and just deleted/restored sparrow wallet to prove to myself I can do it before scrubbing it for the flight. I mean I’m sure it’s fine, but one day it might not be.

Wife (discussing a friend leaving her place of work): “I’m pretty sad about it” Three year old (handing her a toy rabbit): “do you need a friend?” Kids are awesome.

Celebrated #Bitcoin 30k by stacking some sats; then again, this is how most days are celebrated! Picked up a little $MSTR during regular trading hours today. Are cashtags a thing on Nostr?

AI is going to mean one bot at $8/month is more effective than 10,000 freebies ever were; Twitter Blue as a way to filter bot swarms is going to quickly appear an anachronism. The added veneer of “authenticity” will merely compound the problem.

“Almost wherever you are in the twenty-first century developed world, the most expensive purchase you will ever make in your life is not your home, as many believe, but your government. For a typical British middle-class professional over the course of his or her life, the bill totals £3.6 million ($5 million) - far more than the typical house. You will spend 20 years of your life or more in obligatory service to the state. On a time basis, the state owns as much of your labour as the feudal lord did that of the medieval serf, who gave half his working week to farm the land of his lord in exchange for his protection.” - Dominic Frisby, Daylight Robbery

Garden flowers in nostr purple. This was the last week for spring crocuses before the daffodils took over, and they put on quite a show. Most blooms are way late this year as 2023 has started out (and continues to be) so cold. image

I had been under the impression that we (the 70s/80s kids) were the analog-to-digital generation, the ones who dealt with the big tech leap. The more I get immersed in AI the more it feels like our transition will be nothing compared to what our kids are going to witness.

Odd to think that if you gain or lose weight, “you” constitute a greater or lesser percentage of the universe.

15% refundable tax credit for Clean Electricity introduced that can be applied to all nuclear power installations, large or small. Things you don’t expect to see with Enviro activists still in Canadian ministerial posts. I’ll take it!
