If the average citizen works full time for 40 years, and pays a cumulative tax rate of 30%, they lose 1040 twenty four hour days of their life to the state during their lifetime. This doesn’t include unpaid lunches and commute time. Is that loss worth what each person “gets” in return? Cumulative loss of life hours to taxes is staggering across entire populations.

If you’re going to build something, have some pride in your workmanship and design, make sure it’s structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing. These are achievable standards. It won’t be the cheapest or fastest route but the thing will last longer and it’ll end up being part of an environment that inspires instead of something ugly and cheap that demoralizes.
