Hi All Recently, just few weeks back, after reading about the #nixmultiverse blog. I got inspired and wanted to explore the possibilities. So I vibe coded a project to test and prototype the design. It's called super-comma-nix. It's inspired by comma-nix. It's to let users try nix #shell, nix run commands more easily with shorthand instead of long commands. I have added nix output monitor & also added a #sandbox feature so far.

Hi developers, One of the biggest anti-pattern I ever see is projects giving out simple generic environment variables names like: STORAGE_CACHE , CONFIG_DIR . I request developers to give a little more verbose names like: MYPROJECT_STORAGE_CACHE or something like that, even then it's bound to collide in future when some other dev used the same name. My NixOS system update is satisfying and also informative to stare at. Thanks to #nom (#nix-output-monitor). Btw, I use nh which have nom etc builtin The most useful flag I use for system update is `-a` which asks for confirmation after building and showing all changes, so I know if I have commented or forgot to enable a service by mistake etc etc. pretty useful TBH `nh clean all --optimize` is another one I use regularly #nix #nixos #systemupdate #nixhelper #nh #Linux #OS

Hi All Today @bupd@mastodon.social showed me what #bootc is. Honestly I find it cool, even though I'm yet to find it's use case. But I wanna try running bootc from my #NixOS. So far with quick online search, I couldn't find any. Also he mentioned some problems of making nixos based bootc images if I understand it correctly. Will ponder and explore these. I'm thinking of 2 ways: 1) adding bootc image to bootloader menu 2) using nixos specialisations to create bootc or bootc like environment #containers

Hi All Did the nix #workshop today. It was really great to be honest. Audience were engaging, made some college students and professionals try Nix for first time in their machines. One of the most impactful tools in the history of tech and I just let them try some stuffs. That thing itself a big win and what's more is that many are curious and one person started using #NixOS from my previous workshops and talks. And another one started loving and want to switch from omarchy. #nix

This way people can comment on someone's bio , boost them, quote, like them , share report, content warning, codeblock support etc etc and if any new feature comes to a toot, then bio will also have that feature.
