Parasite Pool splits the block reward: 1 btc goes to the one who found it, the rest is distributed as a pool. It's nice that the 1 btc goes non-custodially directly to the lucky user (in the coinbase).

Zappool had an outage, fixed, and apologies! The reason was my human error (not technical, late hosting payment 🥺). Fixed, restarted, hashrate came back, all seems fine. There was no payout yesterday, as the outage started just before payout time. If a miner has a second backup pool configured, and the primary becomes unavailable, it will auto-switch to the secondary, and eventually it will switch back to the primary if available again. I need to improve monitoring.

Due to the 3 days without blocks on Ocean, in the last two days there were hardly any payouts (one). For reasons not entirely clear, an Ocean block commits roughly the same regardless if it happens after 5 minutes or after 3 days of the previous one. As a result, the actual committed amount will be lower than what Zappool has estimated -- and paid out in advance. Zappool status update: - The 60ksat giveaway was completed all right! It hasn't made a huge splash, but it got user interaction and many re-posts, and at least few users joined because of it. - The hashrate is currently quite steady, at 35TH (on weekly, daily and hourly view as well) - There was an issue affecting one user, sorted out (it was a DB issue following some changes, due to stale account handling) - Ocean hashrate went down recently, and right now there were no blocks found in over 99 hours! Not to worry about, just mentioning. - The lightning node reliability is acceptable, but not perfect. The payment from Ocean fails occasionally, and outgoing payments also fail sometimes (routing error), but succeed after a few automatic retries. Occasionally the invoice can't be obtained from the LN address/wallet provider, but that's an external issue. Hashing forward!

Zaps went out today quietly as well. Don't forget, there are still 9 days till the end of the giveaway! Looking at the Zappool hashrate in the last month, the trend is increasing 😎 However, the number of users hasn't increased much... just before an explosion, like the btc chart? 😂

Pura Vida! All zaps went out today fine! 🤙 Two stale accounts with wrong address are not attempted to be paid any more, so the two usual failures (on the dashboard) are gone. Most payments went through at first try, one only on the 8th -- LN⚡is a mistery! (I will increase the number max tries). Today there were 8 payouts -- 7 zaps and a plain LN. No new users joined in the last period, but that time will come! I can polish the infrastructure without big stress. I've probably saturated my primary Nostr reach, I need to think of new approaches for spreading the word.
