People like Gary Gensler still talking as if Bitcoin is the go to medium of exchange for black market activities in 2024 are absolute clowns. I can tell you, and anyone who uses DNMs will back me up, no darknet market today wants to accept Bitcoin. Many don't even provide it as an option. Black market operators like privacy coins for OPSEC reasons. Fact. And where do darknet vendors get their supply? From black market wholesalers who want cash. Untraceable fiat currency. I'm an agorist so I'm not saying this to badmouth privacy, just venting because I see clowns like Gary Gensler talking about how Bitcoin is used by criminals. No it is not. No criminal wants their entire transaction history public forever.

Noticed an #Amethyst bug. My zaps show up when I look at all the interactions to notes, but the little zap icon doesn't turn yellow. I used to have a bug where some zaps wouldn't show on Nostr at all and people I zapped confirmed they couldn't see those zaps, so if everyone else is seeing my zaps now this is a definite improvement, basically just a UX bug. Just giving some troubleshooting info. Would send a PR but I'm shite at Java.

Netflix docs are very hit and miss but I rank Take Your Pills highly. If you're curious about both the historical and contemporary use of amphetamine both medically and recreationally, it keeps you interested and provides a balanced view. On the other end of the spectrum I watched The Most Hated Man On The Internet recently and that was utter shit. It did not need three hour long episodes. Could have been done in 30 mins and summed up with "he bragged about shit under his real name and 4chan got him" lol.

So, I mostly code in Python and JavaScript but I'm making an Android app. I made a little demo app in Dart/Flutter and it works but I always seem to break things when I add features, not as easy to work with as I hoped. But I'm not a quitter so I'm looking at frameworks like React Native and NativeScript so I can use what I know. I do want the app to work like a real native app though, not just a shitty web wrapper. Anyone got experience with these? Are they really any good at compiling native Android apps written in JS?

Gemini Advanced (Google's GPT-4 competitor) is definitely still a beta product at least where code is concerned, but the extra functionality it has (e.g. it actually reads URLs you give it) looks very promising once it's had more time to mature and more training done. Another thing it really does well is constantly update itself with new information rapidly, whereas ChatGPT only has a limited Bing integration, Gemini is hooked right into all the Google services APIs. This means if you ask random obscure questions like what model of car someone in an episode of a random TV show is driving, Gemini is much more likely to have an answer since it does more than skim a couple links from Bing when the answer isn't in the training data. Basically it looks really promising and has potential, but it's far from a ChatGPT killer in its current state. However, it probably doesn't surprise you that when it comes to looking up obscure facts, Google's LLM makes for a better search engine. For more advanced tasks like code generation though, despite Google flexing increased complexity, GPT-4 still way excels Gemini based on my tests.

Okay I just zapped someone from #Amethyst with #Phoenix, the sats sent but the zap doesn't show on Nostr. I restarted both apps, zapped again, same thing happened again. Zapped someone else this morning and it worked perfectly fine. Both times I'm using a solid WiFi connection not mobile data. The zap that didn't show was to a WoS address. Dunno if that's relevant. Zaps are set to public by default in Amethyst. I just cleared the cache of Amethyst and Phoenix, made no difference. Anyone have any insight into this?
