It’s no mystery why OpenAI is begging the government for more regulations on AI. Open source models that keep up in capability completely destroy their business model which has billions of dollars in capital expenses for their compute data centers.
It’s possible OpenAI will find Trump’s ear with a “China bad!” angle in their argument for squashing open source.
