Teenage sons (14,16) working at small local foundry again today. 1st time for poured aluminum. They are loving it and learning. Then off to cross country practice tonight. I'm lucky. Cousins next door have a 15 acre organic farm. I barter by cutting wood for them and pick stuff like this up couple times a week. I can get stuff that doesn't sell that week for canning and freezing. And stuff getting old goes to my pigs.. My garden went to zero about 5 yrs ago. Son turned 16 last week. Got his license today. Going down driveway for the first time by himself (I think) Huge freedom for a kid in rural area, I remember it well. He got truck from his Grandpa. I never let on that I was nervous. Spend time with your kids.

When you make maple syrup the old fashioned way, you need wood to boil the sap. I started today after school. 6-7 of these loads is a cord of wood. I need 14 cord for syrup, 6 for house, 4 for shop. Addressing @Nunya Bidness and the ebbs and flows of a new platform. I am running into something with Nostr starting out. As I try to help grow nostr in this space I find myself curating more than creating. I follow people that have a good take but then find they post 20 times a day. Follow 50 people that post that much and your feed is flooded. I miss many others that post once or every other day. Working on paring those out but it takes time.

Brine: 1 gal water 1c salt 1 c maple syrup Additives of your choice. 2 onions 4 clove garlic Peppercorns Herbs: choice Sit 24 hrs Smoked on hickory 220 to 250 until 180, wrap in foil/butcher paper till 203. 14 hrs total..
