That’s such BS. I don’t want AI or biometric data collection features built into the operating system, whether they’re open source or not. I want them as isolated components, as separate software that I can install and uninstall. Just because this TikTok damaged generation wants stupid convenience features doesn’t mean you throw privacy principles overboard. Ubuntu just keeps screwing things up by chasing after commercial systems. That’s always been their mistake. They should have taken the opportunity to be genuinely different from the ground up. I hate how normal this fiat routine feels. How the blues you get on Sunday evening is really just dread about the start of the work week.

Just a quick thought. Bitcoin's ATH was around 110K in Euros. That was about a year ago. Forget the dollar, it's even losing value against the Euro. And the Euro has a real inflation rate of at least 15% when you look at real estate and energy prices. That means 110K a year ago is at least 126.5K today. But the price is at 66K € today, so it is about half of what it was a year ago. No sign of going "to the moon" yet.

"We're back" they say. Back from where bro? I still can't pay my rent or energy bills in BTC without a fiat ramp. We're still failing.

That's a pretty big deal from the last 50 or 60 years. We're getting poisoned, from the inside and the outside. Real talk, I feel a little bad for the new generation. The other day I saw some young akhis sitting around on chairs out on the street near my place in the ghetto. You know how it goes, sitting on plastic chairs just hanging out and talking. All of them were a bit chubby. Not super fat, just chubby. But too chubby for early 20 year olds. Back in the 70s something like that would've counted as fat, maybe one in 20 kids looked like that because they ate too many sweets. The rest of us were like skinny sticks. But I'm not judging them. Not because I'm woke or anything, but because I know what kind of toxic environment they're growing up in. These days you gotta spend double or triple the money to get normal bread without sugar and glazing fat, and in Germany at least you have to go to special stores for it that aren't on every corner. We don't get normal milk from the farmer delivered every 3 mornings anymore that you just have to boil. We're getting robbed by the Cantillonaires, all we get for our money is a pile of shit, and we're supposed to judge each other on top of it? Count me out. Gotta point your anger at the right place. You know those notes that are basically just quotes pulled from external websites, right? NoorNote supports that too, Nostr internally. You just highlight some text, and then you get a context menu called "Post highlight", and that text gets posted as a quote with the source information under it. There are also browser add ons that let you do this on all kinds of websites. And yeah, some users definitely go a little overboard with it, and end up posting almost every sentence from an article they like. If you don't want to see those notes anymore, you can turn it off in NoorNote now. You can do it either per user or globally in the UI settings. And for Armada groups where you are a member or an admin, you can now also track things more easily. So you will get a notification whenever something new has happened there after a longer quiet period. You get the notification, you can click it, and then check what it is. The old Nostrord addon has been reworked into the more general "Group Chat" addon, and now it tracks both Nostrord and Armada groups. image And I think over the course of this year, there will be more to come. This seems to be the year of group chat clients. Everyone is building and experimenting with different implementations. And once some of them reach a certain level of maturity, I will integrate them into this addon, so you don't miss anything from your groups. Plus a few other smaller bug fixes, like sometimes usernames not resolving correctly. All of that is coming in the next release, already available on . By the way, my hoster is probably dealing with a DDoS attack today, so it might be a bit shaky. So, be cool. image

Privacy is something that Allah ﷻ has prescribed in different situations. It's the right of each individual to limit information about themselves toward others. Whoever abuses this or disregards it will have to answer to Allah on Judgment Day. View quoted note →

Man, imagine this. You wake up in the morning, do your Fajr prayer with the guys. Then you hop on your little fishing boat, head out a bit. Stop somewhere out there. Throw on your diving mask and jump right in the water. With a harpoon. See a bunch of fish. Grab one. Climb back on deck with it. Grill the fish right there on the spot. Just like that for breakfast. On the way back you cast your net, catch about 2 or 3 pounds of fish. Bag them up and head over to the market. You've got a little stand with a table there. Lay the fish out. Customers come by and buy a few. You make your money for the day. And you're free from noon on. What more does a man even need? View quoted note →

Man, the Friday prayers are turning more and more into a test of patience. Some guy left his phone on and loud in a bag and it kept ringing the whole time, for 2 rak'ats straight. Nobody reacted, neither the owner nor the imam. Not even afterwards. The owner quietly grabbed his backpack and disappeared into the crowd. Jumu'ah mubarak!

Here's another thing that came out of this crisis: most of you aren't Nostr maximalists. You've still got one foot on X. To each their own, but this way mass adoption is never going to happen when the important Bitcoin topics aren't primarily discussed here. And no, not even if you say "but I want to pull people from over there to here." Not as long as screenshots of tweets are being shared here instead of the other way around. Don't kid yourselves about that.

Today was a tough day. I replaced the sink, the whole sink unit with the basin in the kitchen. Old one out to the bulk trash, new one in. What a filthy job. But I noticed while doing it that the industry really uses all kinds of different formats for the connections. An inlet pipe is a few millimeters bigger than the old one, screw fittings are all different sizes and lengths... and they expect us IT folks to deliver standards and universal compatibility. But in the real world they haven't managed to standardize the connections for decades and still produce slop.

That happens when you completely lose touch with reality. It starts with not knowing how much a loaf of bread costs in your country and then just keeps going unchecked. View quoted note →

I've got a suggestion for all those streaming service providers, HBO, Netflix, Paramount, or whatever they're all called. How about this: if a user rates a movie with a thumbs down, you just never show them that movie again? Not in the recommendations, not in "For You," maybe you could even take it out of the trending charts for that user. Those are all manipulated anyway, nobody believes that stuff anyway. Basically like a mute, like a "never bother me with this shitty movie again." Would that be doable for you big product owners and devs?
