Is it just me or does San Francisco have the worst weather of anywhere in California? It's a weird bubble. It's currently warmer in Juneau Alaska and Portland Maine than it is in San Francisco!

Shouldn't first class be in the rear of airplanes because that has a higher survival rate in crashes?

Just love how airlines are making it harder and harder to get a printed boarding pass.

Is Google just phoning it in with new Pixel hardware? Comparing Pixel 8 Pro to 10 Pro specs and most of them are the same, some like display and battery are actually a step backward... The only obvious improvement is the CPU which I don't really care about. Not compelling to upgrade!

Today I'm publishing stress tests of several more metal seed backup devices. I expect this to be my final update on this project, as it's onerous, becoming uninteresting, and yielding few new insights. My TV started constantly losing its WiFi connection and after trying all the standard stuff I finally dug into the system logs on the WiFi router to determine that the router was sending control commands to tell the TV to upgrade from the 2GHz to the 5GHz band and when the TV didn't respond appropriately, the router would deauth it for some stupid reason. I can only assume something changed in the TV firmware because I haven't upgraded my WiFi firmware in 6 months. So I found the config to disable "smart connection upgrades" and now everything is stable. I can't imagine how frustrating it would be for a normie without deep networking knowledge to run into this bullshit.

Fun protocol fact: the HTTP header which contains the referring url is called "referer" because the developer spelled "referrer" wrong and nobody noticed, so it made it into the official standards and now it's ossified.
