@Jameson Lopp Thank you for your recent efforts to highlight some of the more interesting/difficult aspects surrounding freedom of speech. This is a great altruistic use of your popularity and intellect in my opinion although I’m sure it has its downsides for you on occasion. I agree that the trend is quite solidly and disturbingly in the direction of sacrificing freedom of speech so as to protect the delicate feelings of the majority. This is the vehicle that has allowed the ruling class to create all the tools they could ever want to silence dissent. For this reason, it is very important to me to see difficult conversations like the ones you started here on #nostr. In fact, if I’m not getting offended on #nostr, I’ll probably stop using it. I’ll take the occasional offensive image that I have to mute/ignore or crazy person rambling on about some nonsense that is real only to them (like most of my own posts), in order to have some sense that censorship doesn’t yet exist here. Thanks again. #grownostr #thinkdangerously #getoffended

We have become a species of dreamers and simpleton romantics who are largely unable to see the world and the state of humanity for the dystopian hellscape that it really is. For most of my life, I have been puzzled by how most people can look upon their own lives and the lives of others and say “yeah, I want more of this - I’m going to have kids!”. But it makes perfect sense from an evolutionary perspective. Most of those humans who had the capacity for introspective thought and the ability to develop realistic perspectives have long since died off. They saw the world as an overpopulated shithole and said “fuck this”. All that remains now (save a few genetic anomalies like myself) are the mindless dreamers. I’ll be happy to join my kind soon enough. #grownostr #thinkdangerously #childfree

I wonder if people realize just how much freedom they lose when they agree to measure value in Fiat terms. It’s like saying “Help me big daddy government! I’m too stupid to figure this out for myself!”… Keep running head first into those chains humans… #grownostr #getoffended #thinkdangerously

#Nostr is a great place for controversial opinions. In fact, it may be the only place where genuine discussion of complex topics can still be undertaken without censorship. If you’re not getting offended by some posts on here, you’re not doing it right. Similarly, if all you’re doing is posting circle jerk content and memes that appeal to #Nostr’s known user base, you are also not doing it right. Just my unpopular opinion. #getoffended #grownostr #thinkdangerously

Family is a cultural norm. It’s a nice concept, but not all family are people you should necessarily maintain relationships with. In fact, it may be best for you to eliminate such people from your life. They are just people after all, and you owe them nothing more than anyone else. So again, here’s to living a life on your terms, and not cursing others with the same inheritance of a broken world. Make the most of what little time you have left to live free and with maximal awareness. When the time comes, rejoice in the fact that your portion of the meaningless cycle of human nonsense ends with you. Being honest with yourself is harder and a constant struggle, but infinitely better than the other fake and pre-packaged recipes for happiness that are out there. Just some thoughts for myself on this Christmas Eve. #grownostr #thinkdangerously

Big brother has gone to a lot of trouble to convince the masses that fame is something desirable and worth seeking. Yeah, put all your inner thoughts out there and tie them to your identity. That can never lead to you being exploited. Anonymity will always be my primary goal. #grownostr #thinkdangerously

Things that can provide unlimited joy: 1. Nature/the outdoors 2. Good relationships 3. Physical fitness/health 4. Creativity and art 5. Introspection and personal growth 6. Efficiency 7. Accomplishment Hedonistic pursuits like food, sex, drugs, etc are fine but require moderation as the pleasure/joy they provide is physiologically limited. Going beyond these limits will ultimately cause harm. Does anyone have suggestions for other things that should be added to the list above? Thanks in advance. #grownostr #thinkdangerously

As someone who has had the good fortune and opportunity to experience most of life’s pleasures, I can say that few compare to the experience of laying your head in the love of your life’s lap and having them reflexively start to pet your head and play with your hair. Bonus points if you both still do this for each other without thinking about it many years into your marriage/relationship. #grownostr
