I have acquired my grail knife. This is a Victorinox Bushcrafter with brass handle scales. I assembled it myself. There are a handful of guys on social media that sell modded Swiss army knives, and one of them several years back specialized in 93mm models with brass scales. He only made a few at a time and they sold out in minutes when he put them on his website. So I was never able to get one. I concluded that to have a brass handled SAK, I'd have to make it myself, and the idea has been in the back of my mind for years. My roadblock the last time I tried to take action on this project was that I couldn't find a good source for the 2 and 3mm threaded tubes used for the pivot pins. During some free time last month, I had Chat gpt do a search for me, and it turns out there are now people selling pivot pin and screw sets on Etsy. I also found a set of machined brass scales. So of course, I ordered, and also got a brand new Victorinox Farmer and Tec suspension clip from Amazon. Drilled out the pins on the Farmer, took the pieces and assembled them onto the brass scales and made this Bushcrafter, which was never an official factory model, just a limited run through a single distributor. Acquired a new knife this week. Casstrom Lars Falt Lockback Swedish made. Classic Scandi grind and curly birch Bushcraft knife, but in a folder. It's going to ride in my haversack as a dedicated woodcraft blade paired with a tomahawk, hatchet, or folding saw. Stripped the bark off a piece of hickory and started making a try stick.
