In case some of you listened to the
@Open Markets Podcast and / or
@CITADEL DISPATCH and are now wondering what the spine of The NoGood Book actually looks like, here are some pictures.
The book has an exposed spine. There are 272 pages in total, which means there are 17 sections (each containing 16 pages). Before folding the pages, a very small strip of a larger graphic (the block numbers and NoGood logo) is printed on the back of the sections. When the pages get folded, bound and glued, the full graphic appears.
It's one of the few design choices that didn't change during the production process, and I love how it turned out. It adds a lot of character to the book, and reflects the open-source and open web ethos I've grown so fond of over the last 5 years.
