Orbiting Space data centers are a fantasy (for now). At some point you will only have a blob of degraded hardware posing a risk to other satellites.
I can see data centers on the moon being much more useful. But building up the infrastructure there will take huge investments.
All that money and effort could be used to make what we have on earth more efficient..
