Just listened to The Daily podcast unmasking Satoshi. It feels to me that John (the writer) had a very early theory based on a flawed documentary that @Adam Back is Satoshi. Instead of setting out to unmask Satoshi, he set out to prove his own hypothesis that Adam is Satoshi.
He based his 99% certainty on things like the use of hyphenations, grammatical inaccuracies and what sounds like ‘gut feelings’. Hardly a smoking gun.
John has clearly spent little time trying to understand Bitcoin or indeed Satoshi. I laughed when he said early on that he thought it was in the public interest to unmask Satoshi. And he suggests that Adam is hesitant to admit his identity to avoid a wrench attack. They barely talk about the importance to the network of decentralisation or how Satoshi was always pushing attention away from himself and onto the community.
At this point anyone who understands Bitcoin understands that it doesn’t matter who Satoshi was and unmasking him doesn’t provide any benefit. If people spent more time understanding Bitcoin rather than solving a mystery they would find themselves much better off.

Bitcoiner in NZ, living that sweet low time preference.
Dad to two, I operate cameras.
Had to see what vibe coding was all about. Been using Claude with the prompts and putting them into Lovable to make a car pooling web app targeted at screen and film production. Seeing that first build pop up after a single prompt is wild!
Wanted to demonstrate Lightning to a colleague so I got him to download WoS and I sent him some sats from my @primal wallet. Watching his face go “what the fuck!?” when the transaction went through was cool.
Mental note; just do that exact process more often with normies. What’s cool is at the end of the interaction you can say “now you own bitcoin”.

Haven’t posted in a little while. What to say at times such as this?
Funny old world. Sometimes it helps to play the thought experiment that we’re just living in a simulation. You don’t have to believe that necessarily but it does help to make everything feel less significant. Just focus on upgrading your avatar. 🎮
Great Valentines gift this year! Excited to read @nat brunell on #Bitcoin #bitcoinisforeveryone

Bitcoin history is so cool, just rewatched @jack mallers Atlantis talk and he covers PoW so well.
Going back to some Bitcoin research while working long days in the studio. I love the origin story, learning about Satoshi, reading his posts on BitcoinTalk. It’s like walking through history in the forums.
