Yesterday, me and @Pausue discussed how we relate to others’ expectations and we came up with an insight we hope you might find useful ☺️ Here we go: if someone I know is in pain, so am I. Therefore, if someone I know has expectations of me and I fail to meet those expectations causing him pain, I feel this pain as well. All other things being equal, if I surround myself with people who have expectations of me, some of my actions become painful; specifically, those actions that fail to meet those expectations. Moreover, the others’ expectations often contradict each other; when they do, pain becomes inevitable for me because both the action and its negation lead to violation of an expectation and hence to pain. For me and @Pausue the conclusion is try not to surround ourselves with people who have expectations of us. #relationships #happiness #pain #expectations #emotions #personalgrowth
