Got the pleasure of watching a local swamp donkey nibbling on some twigs on my way home from the dump today. This guy was right beside the road, I sure hope he backs off into the woods so he doesn’t get hit
It was this cold walking the dog this morning in Maine. We usually get at least a couple weeks of below zero at night up here. My coldest morning in the outhouse was -28F, I have been unable to beat that
Anyone else hike in the woods to harvest wild plants and mushrooms to make their own medicine for the year? We just finished up the Chaga and Reishi this morning. Mullein is absolutely amazing for breathing issues
Look, it must be the end of January already! Wow, winter is flying by here in Maine!
No seriously though, what the hell is this crap in December, way to early
Don’t forget to put your garlic in, now’s the time up here in Maine. Planted 75-80 cloves here. Garlic is a no brainer, so easy, just have to compost and mulch them in as the like rich soil
I used to canoe down the river to harvest enough wild elderberries to get me through the winter but the wild ones I planted are now producing better that I thought. Now I can just worry about fishing when I’m going down the river
Everyone got their wood all stacked and ready for the winter? I usually get mine in June. I use only wood for heat and run through about 3 cords for the winter mainly because we have a small cabin and it’s super insulated. We built it with mostly discounted and cull lumber so our north wall was made out of 2x10’s lol just because we had them and didn’t have to buy anything. We literally spend the winter with the loft window open 24/7 because it gets so hot in here.
