Whether you want to believe it or not, mass surveillance is happening everywhere... right in front of your face.
Just because your government isn't talking about it doesn't mean it's not happening. It's actually the exact opposite of that.
They'll also tell you it's in the best interest of national security but why?
So they can catch criminals?
How many criminals have you heard of being caught using these systems?
And even so, why would they be creating profiles on everyone else while they're at it?

“Everyone has the right to privacy and the ability to express themselves without being surveilled.” - Laura Poitras
Bitcoin may be the future.. but the governments really really don’t want it to be OUR future. They want it to be theirs.
Any time we come up with something that would push the betterment of peoples lives, they will take that from us to ensure they control that something so they can have say so over when our lives get better and when they don’t.
“Inferiors revolt in order that they may be equal, and equals that they may be superior. Such is the state of mind which creates revolutions.”
- Aristotle

One thing I hope will eventually come to a nostr client is the ability to see posts you've liked.
Historically I've used that feature not necessarily to show my appreciation of a post, but as a bookmarking feature so I can go back later and find posts I found interesting or in need of further discovery when I have more time.
Optionally also just a bookmarking feature.
How long will it be before insurance companies are using all of this information along with an AI analysis of said data to deny you healthcare based off of pre-existing conditions caused by your lifestyle?
And in the U.S. in particular, insurance companies are allowed to exploit every loophole possible to make and save money.
They will be able to tie the data from your driving record your car sends and the purchases you make to say you are high risk and deny you coverage.
This isn't coming soon, this is already here.
You just don't realize it's happening right before your eyes.

This is happening everywhere and we don't even realize it.
Have you ever gone to a gas station or liquor store to purchase cigarettes or alcohol and they scan your ID for age verification?
They're not just taking your date of birth. That scan provides them with all the identifiable information on the front of your ID.
That data gets tied to that purchase and then sold off to the highest bidder, more than likely an insurance company who will then raise health care premiums based off of how much alcohol you consume or how many packs of cigarettes you buy.
As most of us know, our privacy has slowly been taken away from us bit by bit for decades.
In this article, they explain how a mans car insurance premiums went up by 21% because his car was sending telemetry data back to the auto manufacturer, whom was then selling it to LexisNexis. The car insurance companies are then purchasing this no-context information from LexisNexis and using it to raise car insurance premiums of drivers.
It will not stop here. This is just the beginning.
We are at war for our privacy and we are losing this battle every step of the way.
