Christian, Author of Moggi (a statically typed, purely function language) and futr (a nostr client)
Moggi's compiler refactor is almost done. Working on some new documentation in parallel. 0.2.0 release has been postponed for 2 weeks already, because of this extra work, but totally worth it. Can't wait to finally push it. #moggi #haskell #functionalprogramming
Wanna see how bad AI is? Try vibe coding a compiler. Even with very fine grained slices and strict boundaries, it just burns tokens with very little progress. I have to constantly intervene and do stuff myself.
Why is everyone only posting about AI these days? As if there are no real developers anymore. Recently I published my own programming language and guess what most people cared about? What's the percentage of hand written VS AI generated, the language itself is of no importance to them. Sad.
Boxed arrays coming to #moggi soon. Based on that, containers package will follow. #functionalprogramming #haskell
I found 2 serious compiler bugs in Moggi. I am about to have them fixed and will ship two new packages alongside: time & containers. #moggi #haskell #programming
The Moggi compiler just got 3 times faster! Full test suite run from 240sec down to 76sec. #moggi #programming
When I started building my own programming language, I had to build in some compiler hacks in order to make it work at the beginning. For example I had a list of monomorphic operators build into the compiler, so it can could do some basic math, concatenate strings, etc. But now that the type classes are implemented, those hacks needed to go in order to not obfuscate possible compiler bugs or std-lib issues. This work is now finally completed! I'm back to working on the new package manager and generated, typed FFI bindings. Once done, expect next Moggi release. #moggi #haskell #programming #compiler
