"People are strange: they are constantly angered by trivial things, but on a major matter like totally wasting their lives [by not buying bitcoin], they hardly seem to notice."
- Charles Bukowski
From @Lina Seiche
"I want to share a little about the Salvadoran mission to Venezuela; the part you don’t see.
The mission is handled by the President of El Salvador. Meaning it is literally handled directly by him. Every thread of the operation reports to @nayibbukele.
Rescue workers update the President by the minute and make decisions together: where to go, how to approach a location, how thin to spread the teams, how long to stay.
The rescuers put their lives on the line to pull people out of the rubble. They squeeze into fragile buildings and dig with their hands where heavy equipment would collapse the structure. They have the President in their ear along the way.
He monitors every person they rescue from the first point of contact until they reach the hospital, where he oversees their medical treatment plans. He decides whether to call off a search or keep it going. It’s an impossible decision, which is why he makes it.
This is how El Salvador has managed every emergency of the last 7 years. It’s the first time Bukele applies his methods at this scale to help another country.
I’m writing this because after the fact, people often post about how you merely need to “flip a switch to fix everything.” The truth looks a lot more like this.
Missions from around the world have now deployed their teams. All of them are doing God’s work. May they be protected and save many more lives today."
Is anyone else deeply disturbed that up down scrolling with arrows doesn't work on any modern web page? And that there is not a single decent extension that can solve this?
