The purpose of cancel culture is to ostracize behavior which runs against societal norms. It’s why we have registered sex offender lists.

@preston just listened to the new podcast about art and would like to offer my take: The art world is filled with “experts” who will look at a banana on a wall and tell you you’re too dumb to understand it. They’ll use million dollar words to describe it and pretend to find deeper meaning about the human condition. But on the flip side, sometimes artists use art to thumb their noses at authority. My hunch is that a banana taped to the wall titled “Comedian” is a troll on the elite people who would tell you that YOU’RE too dumb to understand it. I see it as a different form of creative destruction, and if it is a troll, I think it’s exquisite.
