There is also a link to a python script that you can execute to compile & build from source.
Running the python script a 2nd time will auto pull and compile any new commits
The output directory is fcmp++-stressnet by default. The binaries can be found in its bin subdirectory
Move to the bin directory and run
./monerod --testnet
The stressnet blockchain will begin syncing, the current height as of writing this is 2998467
This can take a few hours
When syncing completes, you can now connect your CLI wallet or GUI wallet to your synced local node
monerod must be running while the cli-wallet software or GUI software runs
For the CLI wallet, in the bin directory, run
./monero-wallet-cli --testnet
If you want to use the GUI, select "Advanced settings" when configuring the GUI and select "Testnet" from the dropdown
Setup your wallet & now your ready to stress test
1. spam transactions on the network to see if anything breaks(You can send transactions to yourself)
2. Obtain xmr (mine or ask for some)
3. Join the Monero Stressnet Matrix/IRC room (the links in the github link shared above)
4. Share bug reports that are as detailed as possible
describe the exact set of steps to reproduce any errors you encounter, and if possible, share wallet and daemon logs using log level 2.
