While Nostr can be considered a social network it is important to understand what to expect if you are someone who is currently reliant upon the legacy platforms for any type of income. The legacy platforms operate with an algorithm driven strategy that is designed for attention capture and to maximize time on that platform with the intent of blasting you with advertisements. If you are using these platforms and have reached a level of monetization you can not expect that same level of income from a peer to peer based monetary exchange program. Although it may be difficult to hear, most of the content on the legacy platforms does not have a lot of inherent value. Success on your current platform likely means you are producing content that effectively captures human attention. There is big difference between content/information that is attention capturing or alluring vs valuable. By monetarily rewarding the quality of content that is specifically effective at attention capture platforms are able to deploy powerfully addictive algorithms that prey on psychological receptors in order to trigger various emotions and retain attention. There is no such dynamic within the current social frame of the nostr network. If you are looking to make money you will need to provide something so valuable that other people decide to pay you for it.
