In fact, almost all EU dysfunction can be traced back to the toxic relationship between France and Germany and their inability to work together. Europe as an idea is good in principle: economic cooperation, alliances, no more brother wars, etc. But as a practical project, it's proven to be more harmful than not given the current circumstance and it requires leaders with a global vision, great men with laser focus on he future, unburdened by petty party politics and scraping the bottom of the barrel for votes just to win the next elections.
