As an expat / nomad, I'm part of #Bali's change and part of the problem. So I try to minimize my impact by:
- supporting small businesses from locals
- learning the language
- respecting religious places and rituals
- being mindful about my ecological footprint
- living together with a local
What else can I do?
#Bali has changed. It isn't the same as when I first visited in 2009. On the other hand, I can't find a place in Asia that ticks all the same boxes:
- Awesome, kind, friendly people
- Affordable
- GREAT food for all budgets and tastes
- Beaches with waves for #surfing
- Mountains and volcanoes for #hiking
- Cultural & Spiritual heritage
- Diving, fishing and other marine activities
I see a lot of posts about Gaza and Palestine on my social media, and it makes me feel guilty. I do keep up with the news and care about what's happening, but I don't feel the urge to share about this specific issue. Aren't there so many other injustices in the world? The root causes of these problems seem more complex.
How can I help people understand that fixing the money, might be the key to fixing the world, without sounding preachy?
There area couple of crypto communities on #Bali. Should I visit them or will it just be a cringe collection of degenerates?
Back in Indonesia! Where I learned to love again.
Why is #Vietnam compared to other #ASEAN countries so goddamn cheap?
After spending almost 6 months in Indonesia, #Vietnam feels like a refreshing breeze. The work ethic, speed & service is all around a stark contrast with Indo. Maybe it's just #HCMC?
Back in Vietnam!
It's amazing
Malaysia is a true melting pot of cultures and religions. But I feel I has only little unique identity? Or is it this melting pot that makes it unique?
Kuala Lumpur is hot!! Old vs new

Next destination : Malaysia! What to expect?
Impressive

I didn't know HSBC was a HK/Shanghai bank. Now it starts to make sense. Their name is still on some of the fiat bank notes.

Never seen that many people. The income inequality gap is also on of the biggest I've ever witnessed.
Hong Kong is wild!
For those who are telling me to get off the island asap: please don't let your mind get terrorized by the media. Yes, the tension is serious, but not critical. None of the locals I've met are even slightly phased by the Chinese intimidations. The Taiwanese are some of the most friendly and peaceful people I've ever seen - and they will never give in to fear. #taiwan
I'm in Taiwan. Should I be scared?
Who to follow?
