@jack @jack mallers and anyone and everyone else. I’m working on some blockchain tech and i really would like to understand the technical and philosophical reason for and against Drivechains. Here is what i have resolved so far: For 1) Expands btc utility by providing a safe path to move funds to a bespoke blockchain that provides specific services based on btc. Could be liquidity pool, could be uber, could be medical record NFTs. 2) allows economy of projects that safely and directly connect to BTC 3) reduces load on btc network for activities of other services 4) lowers fees for using btc in other paradigms, like on an evm Against 1) #2 above invites scams to directly connect to BTC network 2) miners control sidechains meaning they can reorg to screw with sidechain integrity 3) btc doesnt need DC to be successful 4) not tried out on other chains (so we DO need other chains! 😉) Do you think i have captured the debate well enough? I am interested to attain a fact based opinion on whether or not bip300/301 is likely to be accepted, and why or why not.

As someone who competes in ironman events, this may be the funniest video i have seen in a while. I only do half ironmans, maybe i am only half retarded.

Rest day: So its a crypto post day. The reason i am not a maxi is one specific reason. While there are specific dangers regarding having a One True Coin (quantum computing, focal point of attack or censorship by governments, etc), for me, the real issue is that in order to provide true fintech services, you need to bridge to/from it. Example, i think Threshold Network is probably the best that can be done regarding bridges. It follows the architecture of Cosmos IBC, Chainlink CCIP, and layer zero. Deposit address->relay network-> minting on ethereum Its a decentralized oracle methodology. Its still an oracle. It still has a custody component. But I think it is currently the best that can be done. We, digital asset users, can not have a long lasting, viable economy that is hardened from attack until custody is truly dealt with. I do not think we are there. We will be though.

Last hard training session for a week. Now a recovery week. Yay. Three ours of training stole 5 hours of my day. Thats rough. 3000yd swim: the key to long pool swims is to break it up into drills. Lots of drills are impossible to remember, so i recommend Form Goggles which can now sync with Training peaks. The half marathon run i did today was a personal record, just over 2 hours. So yay, but i could have done sooooo much better but i really screwed up my hydration. I have a belt that carries a quart. I needed a gallon. I stopped to refil them at someones house next to the track. And after the run, feeling awful, i made it to supermarket where i downed a quart of lemonade (because i needed sugar too) My strava if you want to follow

Biked to windham mrn today. Wow. It was one of the hardest rides i have done recently, maybe ever. There is a 4km stretch that is only up, sometimes the grade is 15%. It was supposed to be a zone 2 day, but i was hitting 350w for large stretches of those hills. Huge views though

Torque session today. First one for me. Its riding at low and medium power, but at low RPM. It’s the cyclists version of leg day. Tomorrow 3 hour ride and 30min run. The hills around here are brutal. It always installs a sense of dread. But it is also so gorgeous everywhere it usually pays off.

Rained, so indoor trainer. My indoor setup is my 20 year old mountain bike with back wheel removed on an H1 trainer from saris. It puts me in the wrong position for endurance biking. But there is so software that adjusts zones per equipment. Needless to say i am pretty wiped out.
