As this past week has unfolded I have again been made aware of something I noticed before with Bitcoin podcasters and influencers but now has really come into full bloom and that is: The commercial “salesy” side of Bitcoin. Yes I am ready to rant 🐉🤬 Obviously those who have done wrong need to repent and believe, for this is the way. Others who are long on opinions and seek followers who continue making “content” because it’s their business to do so… may be wise to take a step back and learn the lesson that was meant for them to learn. Or not. Humility isn’t for everyone, as we obviously see. Hopefully some new folks can enter the Bitcoin content production space who have enough humility and integrity to stay humble in their agency while doing so. I’m not impressed with closed source hardware and I’m even less on the “multi-vendor, multi-sig” trending suggestion I’m hearing from at least one influencer in the space who is promoting his content to include more videos about this exact thing. 🤮 Is the only lesson learned here is that one manufacturer has tainted hardware? I hope that’s not all that’s learned. How about that 3x ing your hardware lineup at home just: 1) compounded the learning curve for plebs and still you have closed source hardware (software?); 2) increased your reliance on someone else’s hardware or software. Open source great, closed not so much; 3) kick the can further down the road of “I don’t have time to learn my own stewardship of the hardest sovereign money in the earth. Does anyone else see how foolish this 3x multi vendor hardware concept seems? Does anyone else want Bitcoin to just be hard money that’s damn hard to steward and secure? I do. And I’ll suck it up and devote more than an average attention span of less than 60 seconds to learn how to do exactly that. If you are blessed to have children and have a multi-generational vision you can see that you’re teaching your grandkids when teaching your children. In the lyrics of boomer David Crosby, “teach your children well”. Are you important to bitcoin or is bitcoin important to you? image

“And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry or drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” Roman 13:11-14 If you ever lived a life of revelry and drunkenness, lewdness and lust, strife and envy (like me) then you know that it is not the path to the light. He who has ears to hear let him hear.

So I used to use nostr to write fun and interesting stuff and then.. I know it can do much more but it wasn’t much fun anymore. I thought I was just getting tired of social media. Then @Logen shows me what he made, Nostr Vault, that is a Nostr client AND a Nostr relay. He built it because he wanted to decentralize the storage of his own notes to his own system. That just makes sense. Why don’t we all do that? I’m testing it now and so far it’s going great! Thanks Logen for building it and making nostr fun again. #nostr @ODELL
